Re: Nitto NT05
I'm kinda curious what people think of these tires, they are super cheap and one of the few available in pony car sizes. Exactly how bad are these tires compared to say RS3 or Z2s?

Re: ST tires on a light car
Stephen how do the RE11A wear compared to the R1Rs? Also what size would you recommend 195 or 205?
I'm seriously considering the new Hankook RS3's but don't know if the 195 is better than the 225.

Re: March FasTrack
As far as averages goes STC tends to have the more talented drivers\builders than STS. When you have 200 people building and working towards the same goal you tend to figure out how to make a car work. In STS you have 2 different engined Miata's 2 and a Honda. The CRX get the benefit of building off...

Re: ST tires on a light car
I had the "magic" toyos. This was at qualcomm so its not exactly a good test, but at 1/32 with the R1R I was over a second slower than my 225/45/16 Z2 at nationals last year running back 2 back.

Re: ST tires on a light car
I like the Z2's but I'm not happy with the huge loss of grip when they get near the wear bars. I ran into a similar situation with the Toyos which is why I'm hesitant to go back.

ST tires on a light car
Any of the STS or STC guys have any experience with tires that aren't Toyos or BFG?
Looking for some replacement tires for my Rivals and given Hankook is out of the game currently I'm looking for other options. Anyone have any experience the RE11A or some of the other ST tires?

[tinfoil hat] With the attempted removal or H stock and the semi official removal of STC along with moving of to AS the Solstice moving to BS, and the moving of everything in DS to FS, it almost looks like there is a attempt to kill off the one car classes and diversify competition. Not really. The Civics will have just come full circle to their original class name. STS - ST - STC - STS. It the second class in the Street Touring category of the NA Miatas that's really being eliminated. STS2 - STS - STgone. Not meant as an attack, just stating it looks like the SEB or STAC has ...

Re: Evans cooling
Is it a requirement that you run with no ethyl glycol coolant? The engine in your car was likely designed to a run a pressurized coolant system getting rid of the pressure cap doesn't seem like a good idea. also since its not running a pressurized cooling system its very likely you'll get some spill...

Re: Breaking in a new motor
Usually its the pistons that have the teflon coating not the cylinders. I know my Mustang had teflon lined skirts from the factory, and my OE replacement Mahle pistons had teflon lined skirts and a really trick anti stick/slippery graphite coating. On the motor I pulled apart with 265k and worn out ...

Re: Breaking in a new motor
Well from what was always explained to me, there is really only 2 items that need to be worn in during break in. Cam lobes on flat tappet engines, and piston rings, most modern engines don't use flat tappet cams so that shouldn't be a worry. As for breaking rings in, the main goal is to keep the bor...

Re: Breaking in a new motor
Keep an eye on the oil pressure, oil level, and make sure the tune is good. Other than that follow the OEM break in procedure, aka avoid highway driving or long stints of constant RPM, and don't beat on it. Stop and go traffic is a really good way to break in a motor.
