CST PAX

I wasnt around when CSM or CST classes were started, but it seems the Pax for CST is overly harsh. Even when accounting unlimited modifications it seems there is a limit to the amount of power that can be put down on street tires and a given width (Re; the new Street R proposal). I propose to change the CST PAX to .849 (SSPx.975) This would be hard enough to keep CST from leading pax and leaving plenty of room for us in the class to improve while helping those Novices who fall into CST because of removal of interior items or other mods.

CST is designed to follow the SSM index with a street tire modifier given the types of modifications that are allowed. I feel the index being some what tough is what makes CST as fun as it is by making it unappealing to the hypercompetitive members of our sport.

Well i remember when adam tried street tires and it was not fun and not very competitive. If the index was as suggested I dont believe it would be appealing them but more appealing for novices. I know the str guys can beat CST anytime they want to race in the morning }:)

that's kind of my point. almost by definition CST is a class for people who don't care about how they do in the overall index results. If a CST competitor wants to start doing better on overall index they should move to a class that has a more fair index and fits in with the nationals classing structure so they can run national type events also. I don't think most novices and/or CST competitors show up looking to take top overall pax.

at .849 one could put street tires on the Berry evo and mop the floor with the overall results. certainly not in the best interest of CST as a class.

mmm. Interesting. I hadn't thought of that. adding 2 seconds per day would give you a 113.317 paxed at the .849. Still TTOD but by a smaller margin. Jeez thats fast. I got to a ride along sometime. Your the only one in the top 20 that would be helped by that. The str guys have an easier pax and the rest are not able to be registered for road use. I was thinking since novice was a sort of pax class it would help a cst car pax better in novice.

and that is with a stock motor, stock cams, stock turbo, and full interior. It would be interesting to see how much slower street tires would actually be on that car. It seems like we get the tire pressures wrong by a couple psi and we lose 2 seconds, so its possible street tires might slow it down more than 2sec/day at el toro (probably less than 2sec at cali speedway).

and by all means if you see an empty seat at a practice don't be shy.

Imagine a 900 lbs. bike-engined Caterham on 195 Toyos.

Unless you're running that, you are under-prepped for CST.

There is once capable of being registered for the road? Wow. What a ride :)

Can't you fit 255 ZII's on a Caterham? 220hp Hayabusa with sequential gearbox?
Double the budget for 300hp.

That ought to beat a civic or an MX5 or a Silvia with a body kit....

This thing looks like a good car for CST, just needs a bit more power.

Hey George & Eric, think I found the FF I want. Best part is I wouldn't need a trailer......
