I have a 2011 Mazda Mazdaspeed3 it has the following modifications:

Rear Sway Bar
Upgraded rear polyurethane engine mount
Shifter cable mount relocater plate
Lighter shifter weight
Second Cat and resonator delete to stock muffler

Open for options on tires

CST for 140 Treadware (any mods on street tires) or higher or DSP if you want to run R-comps.

Sounds like STU. I wouldn't worry too much about classification if this is your first run with us. Sign up for Novice, then select the STU modifier. That way you'll be classed against other novices. Also on this forum, since a lot of us know each other, it is a good idea to actually use your real name for the forum. It makes it easier to communicate.

Regarding your question about <140/200TW tires that are OE, here is 13.3.C.1 of the rules:

1. Any tire which is OE on a car eligible for Street Category may be used on that car in Regional Solo® events. OE tires must meet all requirements of Section 13.3 to be eligible for National Solo® events.

So essentially: the 60TW tires are fair game locally (if they were OE), but not at Tours/Pros/Nationals.

Seeing that the Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca and Porsche 911 GT3 are in SS (and the Nissan GT-R isn't even Stock eligible), I would think the similar if not better performing Z-28 would NOT be classed lower than those cars. I would have guessed SS or not even Stock eligible.

I only saw the 2014 ZL1 listed in AS (page 166). Has the new Z-28 been added to AS?

I like your thinking, but you made a small mistake. ...the Bentley isn't most "VDubs" as you put it. Most VR6's are in GS. Since the car has basically 2 VR6's in it....

So with your thought path... It would have a PAX of: 1.612 [(̶.̶0̶8̶0̶6̶x̶2̶)̶(.806x2), double the GS PAX]

Howdy, ran my first autocross with cal club at the last el toro event, and have some classing questions going forward (second in ES to Leonard within S2 class, not bad for first SCCA

I have a 1995 miata m package (currently 'Merlot' with age color, soon to be primer grey), with koni sports, hankook rs3s, and the rest is stock.

It does have DOT stainless brake lines, does this definitely put me out of ES? Do I need to revert to rubber to be ES?

Also on the spring perches on the konis, I have the springs at the lowest perch setting, is this ES legal (was at mid setting for last autoX)?

I know at regional no one is going to bust my... chops, for this, but I want to be properly classed, even though I have no chance for an S2 win, I want to know where I am in the ES cars.

Per the SCCA rule book for the Street Category:

13.6 BRAKES
A. The make and material of brake linings may be changed.
B. Substitution of clutch and brake hydraulic lines with solid metal or braided metal is allowed on all cars manufactured before model year 1992.
C. Alternate brake bleeder fittings (e.g., Speedbleeders®) are permitted. They may serve no other purpose.

From what I've been able to find on Miata.net, the highest perch is the one you need to set at to be Street class legal for your car. If someone wants to chime in with better info, please do.

I have a set of Koni sports on the car. The ones for the NB didn't have adjustable perches, so much easier to figure out where to set it on my end.

Cold air intake
Carbon hood with bigger vents
CDC top grille
Roush Lower grille delete
Stock shelby spoiler
MGW shifter
Steel braided clutch hose
Race pads and rotors
Wider wheels and tires
Also has full suspension on it with a rear end breather.
all the suspension is bolt on and nothing has been cut or moved.
The car looks stock with all interior in it (rear seats stay in).
Also about to put full exhaust on it and not run any cats and will have a new tune.

I wanted to know what tire choices could I get?
Are there any noise restrictions?
Any tuning restrictions?
Is there a specific insurance you need?
The one last question is I am thinking about some headwork and if i choose to do that, then what class would i have to be in?

All help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Sounds like a good CAM or CST car. For those classes, no tuning restrictions, and any tire of 200tw or greater is allowed. I would look into the Hankook RS3, BFG Rival, or Dunlop Z2 depending on which ones have the sizes you need.

Thinking of trying this out, is there a class for my car?

1965 Mini Cooper I inherited from my dad. Not stock, but really don't know the extent of the modifications as it was formally used as a rally car in the U.K. Still runs the stock size 10" wheels with Yokohama D.O.T. tires. Licensed and legal for street use.

This makes it pretty much impossible to class... (accurately)

That doesn't mean it can't run...
Here are two classes you can run in:
CSM (run what you brung on DOT tires, aka: non-slicks race tires)
CST (run what you brung on street tires)

Beyond that it becomes tricky. I'm assuming it was brought to the States as a non-US model under the grey import over 25yr old rule. This would exclude you from any Stock or ST class, even if the car was "stock".

From there you would need to know your modifications to go digging into the three levels of prep: Street Prepared (SP), Modified (M) and Prepared (P), and the respective class for which the Mini is listed in. Some levels of prep (ST) have class wide preparation rules, the other two can and do have class specific levels of prep, in addition to the general class rules.

Once you do solve your specific class... you could run in that class... or we have an indexed class called "Historic" where you could run against other older vehicles, so you don't have to run against class specific modern equipment.
