Remember, A Mod is a list of restrictions, not allowances. Do what ever you want that doesn't violate the restrictions.
Rule Book wrote:
18.4 SPECIALS
Cars not otherwise classified which meet the following minimum specifications are considered as Specials and are assigned to Modified class A (AM).
A. Bodywork
1. Must be made of metal, fiberglass, or other suitable fire resistant materials. The sides, front, and back of the cockpit area must be at least as high as the driver’s waist.
2. Full and unobstructed access to the driver’s seat must be provided.
3. Firewall and floor shall prevent the passage of flame and debris to the driver’s compartment. Belly pans shall be vented to prevent the accumulation of liquids.
4. Fenders are optional and design of same is free. Sharp edges are not allowed.
5. Minimum of one seat, capable of supporting the driver in an upright or semi-reclining position is required. Location of the driver’s seat is unrestricted.
B. Chassis
1. May be of any construction deemed safe.
2. Minimum wheelbase is 72.0” (182.88 cm).
3. Minimum track is 42.0” (106.68 cm) front & rear.
4. Minimum wheel diameter is 10”.
5. All four wheels will be sprung from the chassis.
6. Brakes must conform to those specifications listed in Section 3.3.3.B.12. The brakes shall be a dual system, arranged in a manner to provide braking for at least two wheels in the event of failure in part of the system.
7. A roll bar conforming to Appendix C is required.
Exception: The bar must extend at least 2.0” (50.8 mm) above the driver’s helmet in the normal seated position and a head restraint keeping the driver’s head from going under or behind the roll bar is required.
8. Five-, six-, or seven-point driver restraint systems are required per Club Racing GCR Section 9.3.19.
9. Vehicles shall have a Master Cutoff switch complying with Club Racing GCR Section 9.3.34.
10. Aerodynamic devices may not have an overall width greater than 75.0” (190.50 cm).
11. No aerodynamic device may extend more than 66.0” (167.64 cm) above the ground.
12. The total area of all wings shall not exceed 20 sq. ft. (129.03 cm2), computed as previously described in Section 18.0, Modified Category, “Aerodynamics.”
13. Movable side skirts are allowed.

Not sure exactly which class my car fits in but I think its SMF, I have a long mod list
2004 Pontiac Vibe Front wheel drive
Super Charger (low boost)
Polyurethane bushings and motor mounts
Strut tower braces front an rear
Larger front sway bar
Larger rear sway bar plus a second lower sway bar
Coilovers
Bridgestone Potenza RE11 tires
17in wheels
Long Tube headers
91 octane

In National classing that puts you in SMF at a minimum, maybe Prepared. However, locally we have a class called CST, California Street Touring, in which the only rules for competition is having the car registered in the state of California and having 140 or higher TW tires. It's a good class to learn the sport in and figure out the whole cone dodging thing

I would like to do national classing, but if i do that does that mean i have to attend more then just the CSCC events then?

You can run in any class you are qualified for.
Attending National events is purely optional, unless your goal is to go Nationals in September, then some prior National level event participation is needed.

I thought this was no longer the case?
As of a year or two ago, I believe you can go to nationals without any prior national level event participation.
Anyone know for sure? I couldn't find anything about such a registration requirment in last year's nationals supps (which I happen to have saved on my phone still).

Has SCCA announced what class the Focus RS will be in? I would presume it'll be classed with the STi in D Street, but with as little as I still know about this sport I could be wrong.

STi is in B-Street, regular WRX is in D-Street...
The RS has not been classed yet, but I would guess B-street with the STEvos.

Option package conversions may be performed between specific vehicles
of a particular make and model, but only between configurations from
within a particular model year. Such conversions must be totally complete
and the resultant car must meet all requirements of this Section. These requirements
are not met by simply pulling a fuse to disable a feature which
distinguishes one model from another
Can I swap just the OEM brakes or just the OEM LSD from a performance pack GTI to my non performance pack or do I need to do both plus the ecu difference to stay in G-Street?

You would have to make your GTI exactly like the performance pack version. If it has a different ECU, that would need to be swapped as well.

I have a 2010 MX-5 PHRT that is completely stock, and I plan to run it that way.
What class am I in? I'd like to compete in the March 19, 2016 event at El Toro.

Hi Robert, welcome aboard! Some info you should be aware of for the upcoming event weekend:
March 19 is a Saturday practice event with limited entries, and it is right before the SCCA ProSolo so it is heavily subscribed by those preparing to compete at the Pro. There is a priority system in effect, generally giving priority to those planning on running in the Pro. You are still welcome to sign up on
http://www.solo2.MotorsportReg.com, just saying this particular event is harder to make the cut on. Also car classes are not used on practice days. On Sunday, however, there is no limit on entries and it is our regular class competition. In addition, Sunday events have some features specifically geared to new drivers.

so I just got a fiesta st which is h-street. The factory tires are 140tw so that puts me out of h-street so where do i go? i thing cst is also 200 tw right? im cheap and dont want to buy tires for a car that has less than 300 mi on it

Solo rules, section 13.C.1:
C. Other

Hi all,
I just did the SCCA Starting Line school in San Diego and am itching to try a "real" course. So I guess I need to know which class my car, a 2007 Lotus Exige S, fits in.
It currently has a KoldFire 270 tune loaded, but I also have an original ECU that I can swap in if necessary.
The only other mod, that I know of, is the exhaust is a Larini Club Sport.

The Exige S is classified in SSP.
A tune is ok in this class, but you need to run the stock pulley.
Changing the pulley bumps you up to SSM.
If you had >140 treadware tires you could run it in CST locally. Our run-what-you-brung class for street tires.

I'm guessing that from your comment about CST and reading the CSCC Supplement, that I could also run in CSM with the Advan's.
