No it's not. As others mentioned they are separate. In the past there was a difference in that you didn't have to join SCCA to compete in our region and earn points for the year-end championship. But now you do have to be an SCCA member. And if you don't get a points card you can still compete....just not for the year-end championship for your class.

If you want a points card go here: http://www.solo2.com/PurchasePC.asp
To clarify this a bit, it's not that our region now requires SCCA membership; it's that the SCCA requires it for all events it sanctions in any and every region. It's an insurance/risk management thing.

I'm pretty sure they don't mind the extra income either.

Did you get your card in the mail by the way?
You mean the points card is actually a physical card? I never got one in the mail. Will I ever need it?

Yeah, there was an actual card. Never had anyone actually ask to see it though. I didn't think there was one for 2k8, not that it matters.. there isn't really much of a reason for a physical card, it sits unused making my wallet fatter right next to my San Diego points card.

Yes there is a physical card cause I have one in my wallet making it fatter.

Also, in my making of the overall pax results I have found that there are a couple people who keep slipping through the registration cracks and running a number that is either expired-on-hold or hasn't been renewed in over a year.

A main reason the cards don't really make sense, Cards are good for when you need a lot of people to be able to go to a lot of places. We just have one place, so a list at that one place is all we need.

Man, I'm really starting to derail this thread, maybe we should break it off to a points card thread..

just move it into the SCCA membership question thread in the New to Autocross/forums area, seems like the same line of thinking at the same time.

If you paid via PayPal, I don't send one out, and no you will never need it because the main thing is that you have points # online in the database. That's what you're really paying for and we don't require it at registration. Just driver's license, and SCCA membership #.

Also I'm going to make a motion to eliminate the actual need to generate a physical points card. The Supp Regs would have to be updated as there are plenty of references to the points card.

Registration will need a list for those who don't pre-reg.
