Sumitomo Tires and Sizes

Post by Jeffear »

Thinking of purchasing Sumitomo HTR Z III tires for my Mustang?
Does anyone have experience with these tires on a car like the Mustang?
More concerned with durability and price than performance at this time.
They have a UTQG of 300, will that equate to 250 runs on my car?
The OE size is 255/40/19 and is cheap at $145 per tire.
Would a wider/shorter tire be more stable to provide more runs, say a 275/30/19 or is the OE size better?
Is there any relationship between tire size and durability/longevity?
Not concerned with speedometer calibration.

Would the slightly more expensive BFG g-Force Sport Comp 2 with a 340 UTQG rating be a better choice for value?
Any other recommendations?

Thank you for any advice.

A higher UTQG does not guarantee more runs, you also need to look at construction and tread design. Many times tires that are designed for high freeway miles will fall apart when leaned on.
