Planning ahead: got an HS seat available for the Fontana Pro?

Hi there,

I'm Stephen Hui. Most of you don't know me, but I'm an autocrosser hailing from Calgary, Canada, where it's currently a balmy 37 degrees, and forecast to hit 10 degrees later in the week.

I'm looking for a ride in HS for the Fontana Pro in April, but I don't know anyone in the area who runs in the class, so I figured I'd post here and see what I could find. Anyone with a competitive HS car willing to consider a codriver in exchange for, say, two front tires or a similarly sized check?

A bit about me: I've competed in national-level events for nearly two decades, but because I live far away from everything, recently almost all of the events I've done have been in borrowed cars. In the past few years I've done multiple events each in Matt Ales and Mike Heinitz's cars, among others (thanks again, Mike and Matt!).

I try to be a good codriver and respect the equipment, and as far as I know, the dozen or so people whose cars I've driven at national-level events have all been happy afterwards. I used to be relatively quick (between fourth and sixth at Nationals for several consecutive years, and national event wins most/all of those years), but I've had a bit of a slump the past few years. That being the case, I should be a good reference for intermediate-level drivers, and a good tire warmer for expert ones. :)

It's never been an issue, but I have the financial means to cover any damage that happens to a car I'm driving.

If anyone's potentially interested, or has a pointer to someone who might be, I'd love to hear from you via PM or email (my first and last name / forum handle, without a space in between, @live.com).

Thanks!
Steve

Hi Steven, I was the only local HS driver at the Fontana Pro last year. HS turnout is sparse and sporadic, here; so you might have better luck in other classes.

It's only my second year autocrossing and my car is probably not competitive, but I have a 2017 Chevy Bolt EV which is heavy but makes 266 lb-ft torque at 0 RPM :D

I'm not sure if I'll even compete in the Pro this year since there's no ride-alongs and the $$$/run value isn't there for me, but $$$ or tires and somebody else in the same car could convince me to attend :)

225/45-17 Hankook RS4s in front, 215/45-17 Kumho V720s in back.
Narrow 17x6.5" wheels, stock shocks and sway bar.
Could be running different tires by spring...

So if you're interested in driving a goofy electric car, let me know :)

Stephen,

I have a 2016 Fiesta ST with Koni's, Mountune Catback exhaust and the proper 16x7 wheels. The only thing it is missing is tires.

I wasn't planning on competing in it but I will be driving it to the event (I'm likely running SSC). Shoot me a message if you'd like to know more.
