Underbody aero panel illegal in stock class? I assume that's a yes...

Post by Brian Ernst »

I wanted to buy this aero panel for my 2007 Miata: link. It's not like it's a wing or other big aero modification. Is it considered illegal in stock class? I'm running in CS.

Hi Brian. Street class is restrictive, no aero mods of any kind are allowed. That being said, if you talk with the local competitors of CS and get their agreement, then it could possibly be allowed locally. Definitely illegal at bigger regional or national events.

The general rule of thumb for SCCA classing is if the rulebook doesn't explicitly allow it ... it's illegal. That being said, talk to the local class competitors to get their input. I doubt it will make the NC suddenly faster than the ND's but it's better to ask for permission rather than forgiveness #Sammy #cambergate
