Requirements for Visitors/Passengers for Practice Events.
What are the requirements for visitors that come to our practices to watch and/or want to go on some ride a longs?
I don't remember if they had to become SCCA members and if so what is the cost?

They need to be SCCA members Nic. Worst case scenario is $5 at the event BEFORE Gail leaves in the morning.

Gayle isn't the only person who can sign people up for weekend memberships. As long as there's a form and an adult SCCA member, they can do that.George Schilling wrote:Nic Sanchez wrote:What are the requirements for visitors that come to our practices to watch and/or want to go on some ride a longs?

Re: Requirements for Visitors/Passengers for Practice Events.
The SCCA offers a FREE weekend pass for passengers only. You can't drive. But you just sign the same form as for a weekend $5 membership and we print PASSENGER on the form and its free.
Passengers are okay during practice, X runs, and fun runs.
During competition runs only approved instructors can ride along.

Re: Requirements for Visitors/Passengers for Practice Events.
Thank Gayle. She had a lot of frustrating time trying to get exactly clear with SCCA on this confusing program.
Not to mention showing up first thing at every event. She pretty much beat CASOC to the track each day of our event.

Yeah, don't get me wrong [not you steve]. Gayle's down all the hard work on this; the responsibility for dealing with it every race weekend shouldn't fall entirely on her shoulders.Steve Ekstrand wrote:Thank Gayle. Re: Requirements for Visitors/Passengers for Practice Events.
I keep reminding her of that. And she's been making the transition to getting more people up to speed and the forms are in the motorhome.
There was so much confusion and the need to establish new recordkeeping procedures and submittals, that she felt it was important for one very experienced person to own it for the first year. She says she enjoys doing it, but I always feel guilty seeing her there so early every single event day.

So my 12-yo son Max can go with me on X runs? I was told no Sun. runs at all, only Sat. practice. That's awesome!Passengers are okay during practice, X runs, and fun runs.

Re: Requirements for Visitors/Passengers for Practice Events.
I'm not the boss.
The problem with CSCC Solo2 is imaginary rules get made up, changed, ignored, invented, abused, and ocassionally hammered over unsuspecting people's heads.
So, ignore anything I say. This place is just to f'ed sometimes to bother trying.
We ban them from competition runs. Which occur on Sundays. Other runs happen on Sundays than competition runs. For some with the "power" that's just too damn complicated.

Re: Requirements for Visitors/Passengers for Practice Events.
Hey guys,
I have another question. What is the minimum age for a passenger on a ride along? Or will it be more of a height requirement?

Re: Requirements for Visitors/Passengers for Practice Events.
SCCA Rule book : 1.3.2C
C. A passenger is allowed provided he/she: is no younger than
twelve (12) years old; is in a vehicle which has passed tech inspection;
is wearing a properly fitted seat belt and a properly
fitted helmet; he/she (or parent/guardian, as appropriate) has
completed and signed the required participant waiver(s). In general,
a passenger should be either a student riding with an instructor
or an instructor riding with a student during an instructional
run (as in a Solo drivers’ school). However, it should also
be noted that some Regions allow passengers in order to acquaint
newcomers with the sport. As long as the passenger meets all of
the above requirements, he/she would be allowed at Regional
events where a passenger is permitted. Passengers are not
allowed during competition runs in Divisional, National Tour,
and National Solo events.
CSCC Rule Book:
3.5.1 PASSENGERS: Passengers are prohibited during official competition runs at
Championship events. The only exception is Approved Novice Instructors.

Keep in mind that any minor that is going to be in a "hot area", (grid, course or in a car) is required to have the SCCA waiver signed by both parents.Kurt Rahn wrote:So my 12-yo son Max can go with me on X runs? Thanks for the heads-up. I've got that covered, as his mom will be delivering him. I should be able to find an SCCA member somewhere to sign as witness. ;)Keep in mind that any minor that is going to be in a "hot area", (grid, course or in a car) is required to have the SCCA waiver signed by both parents.

Whoever is at the gate; that person should witness both signatures. Put "All Events 2008" for the date and he'll be covered for the year.Kurt Rahn wrote:Thanks for the heads-up.
