PSA ---> Trash on course and in grid has been a problem,....

Post by Doug Teulie »

Several folks have noted that trash (on the assault) has become a bigger problem lately. No I am not talking about cars!
Part of the increase in trash is because the club has been providing bottled water. It is great that water is provided on hot summer days but the increase of bottles at the events fills trash cans faster. Many bottles are placed under cones in grid (not a good idea but it stops them from rolling until someone knocks the cone over). Please pick up trash when you see it. Please tell others to smash PLASTIC bottles after they are finished drinking. Smashed PLASTIC bottles do not roll and pop if / when cars run them over. Smashed bottles take up less space in the trash cans too.

This has been a public service announcement.
(It was brought up at the CSCC Solo Committee Meeting)

 sorry, one of those bottles would have been me at the last event. I was in grid, time to run, saw a cone next to me so I placed it upside down in the hole of the cone and never remembered it after that. (I have done this in the past, but I usually remember to grab them). I remembered after I had already packed up and left.

I will remember for now on.

And remember that just because you put a "free" sign on something doesn't mean you should leave it in the paddock when you leave.

Trash cans available in paddock would be helpful to have some where to put the bottles???

There were four trash cans in the paddock at the last event.

From the June Minutes:
New Business:
The need for accurate data entry for Championship events was discussed. The board has requested that all data entry workers be qualified and approved by the Timing Chairman prior to the morning of the event.
Trash on course and in grid has been a problem, especially empty water bottles under cones. It was discussed that the hosting club make sure there are trash cans with liners at both end of grid as well as next to each porta-potty and next to the motorhome.

The majority of us really do try to keep the lot free from debris, especially water bottles. There are a few that ocassionally need reminding that their mom don't live there - pick up after yourself.

This was an idea from my dad for NO$ championship event...

Next to each trashcan, if we attached another trash bag to the can so that we can separate bottles from trash?
We had a bag next to the trailer and I believe Glenn said that we made a good amount of money off of it...
Its bad enough that we have a some-what-non-earth-friendly hobby... maybe we can at least recycle?
