I have a new sponsor: Motul

Post by Bill Schenker »

...for all my fluid needs (engine, brake, transmission and cleaning products).

I'm psyched! They are a 150 yr. old company that is legendary in motorsports: if you watch Le Mans, the Japanese GTC or Moto GP, you know Motul. I will be their first sponsored racer in Solo.

Just wanted to share my good news. :)

Nice man! Good work! What did they say when you asked them to sponsor?

I was Bill's sponsor as an independant AMSOIL dealer. They're more into boat racing, off-road racing, NHRA and lesser-known forms of motorsports, but Motul (also Redline) are boutique oils, that have a much bigger presence, and that's great for Bill. Congrats Bill. Now get the monkey off your back and win Nationals.

What do you mean by "boutique oils"? If you read Sports Car at all, you would see that in SCCA road racing, Red Line has a very large presence. At the 2009 Runoffs they had 17 first place finishers, with a total of 51 finishers on the podium. They had almost identical results in 2008. I know that this isn't autocross, but it is the closest type of racing to it. So I am curious about what you are implying.

Meaning if I go to Pep Boys, Autozone, Kragen, I won't find Amsoil, Redline, or Motul on the shelves. Or if go to my local gas station, I'll find their brand (i.e. Mobil 1, Shell, Exxon, etc...)

But also you didn't quote my part when I said

That's GREAT BILL, I've been using their brake fluids for years!
Their motor oil is consider one of the best and there claiming 10% increase in HP - but the cost is too high for me (~$150 just for oil)...

I've been courted by a Chinese company that would like to enter the market and compete with Redline and specifically Motul.

Yes, as Gio said, he used to sponsor me; out of friendship, certainly not because of anything I could do to reciprocate! AMSOIL and Gio were wonderful, and I'd be more than happy, Gio, to get that monkey off! Let's see what kind of cooperation I can get from Scott, Matt, Tim and any number of others!

Dan, I had my car in the OS Giken booth at the Japanese Classic Car Show last Fall. Motul was displaying next door. We just started chatting, and by the end of the day, their Automotive Manager, without any real prompting by me, said he was going to sponsor me. By the time we signed contracts, his initial commitment grew by 50%! I'm a happy camper!

:D Already covered, Rick! Been on the car since Dec. - has to be their red and white logo. See my question about sublimated dye shirts in the PM I sent you about Feb. event results?

I guess the sarcasm is lost on Bill, as I don't think he understands Spanish :)
