A Good place to get my wheels cleaned?

Post by Bill Schenker »

...before I paint them. My wheels are majorly dirty, and I don't think I have the time to clean the two sets. I'd like to spiff them up for Lincoln by getting them cleaned and then painting them black; ay recommends of where I could get them cleaned?

TIA

These wheels have industrial-grade gunk on them - just washing won't do it.

Ideas?

How about a shop that refurbishes blocks, heads etc. They'll likely have a big cleaning tank wheels could be dipped in. Maybe a wheel plating shop. Check with your local tire shop that does off-road and such. They are usually connected to shops the refurb wheels.

Eagle One Etching Mag Cleaner: takes off gunk, polish, paint, anodizing, and a little bit of your driveway. Rinse everything heavily with clear water after use.
I use this stuff before painting any aluminum parts: etches the surface so the paint adheres nicely.

They have it at my local Pep Boys.

It is the best/nastiest stripper I have used. Be careful.

The best stripper was "Lexus" at the Palomino in Vegas. The nastiest was a tie between two "women" at the Crazy Horse, also in Vegas, that were on the stage at the same time and looked like Larry Holmes and Leon Spinks in G-strings...

*shudder*
