When was this added to the rules???!
Few years ago when we had lots of fun in that class the rule was - "you have to be able to drive the car to the closest McDonalds without getting arrested" + R compound tires.
Karl's EVO 7 couldn't be registered in California. It was a car never officially sold in USA. It was trailered, but he had some kind of license plate slapped on it and he could drive it to the McDonalds (since it looked like a street car) thus it was perfectly legal for the class.

Someone please remove that licensed for street use in California thing from the rules ... or at least change it to "licensed for street use somewhere in the world". That's the spirit of CSM.

P.S. Who remembers the sex doll in Bill Hogan's CSM Civic? :)
I went back to 2010 rules, when I took over rules. It has always been stated that way. I don't know that anyone has ever protested the rule and I have no problem in changing the language to say something else. I think if it can be legally registered anywhere you can drive it in California, just don't try to get it registered here.

It's been that way as long as I remember as well. And yes, I DO remember Hogan's doll, and cardboard wing.

Those sneaky bastards trying to slip changes in... }:)

Julian, I've gone back to a printed copy of either '05 or '06 (cover page is missing). Still the same wording there, so can't really answer when they "added" the rule in on you.

Maybe Rick can chime in, I see he ran a '70 240z in the class in 2000 under the class name Street Modified (SM). Class name changed to California Street Modified (CSM) in 2002, when SCCA National added a new class called SM which conflicted in name.

It's always been that way. Just never enforced. I think it was only there in case someone was really a jerk about playing fair. CSM was just for fun and a place to dump people initially that didn't fit anywhere else.

I ran the ASP Lotus Elan there a few times before I had the interior finished.
Got threatened with a protest because I didn't have windshield wiper arms.

That would be so cool to win CST in a Morgan.

And if someone even thinks about protesting you about not CSM/CST legal because not possible to register in California, tell them to go #$%#^%
