San Diego sound

Post by James Yom »

Can someone confirm the sound limit for San Diego? 93 db? Is that correct?

And how does the Nationals sound process go? If you blow sound the first time, regardless of how loud, you get a warning and a chance to fix it? But you get to keep the time? Is that correct? And if you blow sound the second time it's a DSQ for that run?

From page 20 of the SDR sup regs

http://www.sdrscca.com/solo2/doc/2016_S ... 016-01.pdf

6.4 POLICY WHEN SOUND LEVEL EXCEEDS 93.0 dBA
6.4.1 A run shall be defined as any time the vehicl
e enters the track, regardless of specific driver.
6.4.2 Upon completion of any run resulting in a rea
ding in excess of 93.0 dBA, and prior to any
following runs, the driver shall be notified of the
offense.
6.4.3 Any run which exceeds 99.0 dBA shall result i
n immediate disqualification of the vehicle from
any subsequent run, which may include any additiona
l drivers. This disqualification shall extend
until the vehicle can be proven to the satisfaction
of the Sound Committee Chair or his designee that
the vehicle conforms to the 93.0 dBA limit. An exce
ption for valid mechanical problems may be
considered.
6.4.4 Any run that results in a reading in excess o
f 93.0 dBA shall be disqualified. There shall be no
exceptions.
6.4.5 On the first violation the driver shall be re
quired to immediately make an attempt to bring the
vehicle within compliance. Physical changes to the
vehicle that result in a drop in the sound output
of the vehicle are the only accepted means of compl
iance. Adjusting or limiting the throttle position
is not an acceptable means of compliance.
6.4.6 On the second violation of a single day’s eve
nt the driver shall be given one final chance to
bring the vehicle within compliance.
6.4.7 On the third violation of a single day’s even
t the vehicle shall be disqualified from any
subsequent competition, which shall include any add
itional drivers. This disqualification shall
extend until the driver or owner can prove to the s
atisfaction of the Sound Committee Chair or his
designee that the vehicle conforms to the 93.0 dBA
limit.
6.4.8 Once a vehicle has been disqualified, and sub
sequently re-admitted, it shall be subject to a six
(6) run probationary period. During this period, an
y run that exceeds 93.0 dBA shall result in
immediate disqualification. This shall again extend
until the driver or owner can prove to the
satisfaction of the Sound Committee Chair or his de
signee that the vehicle conforms to the sound
limit.
6.4.9 The Committee can place on probation, as defi
ned in paragraph 6.4.8, any vehicle which
exhibits a consistent pattern of sound violations,
even if the violations are not sufficient to result
in
disqualification under paragraph 6.4.7.

That help?

I know nothing of National sound rules or procedures.
