My daughter (2015 GT 5.0L) and myself, her dad, (2018 GT 5.0L) just became SCCA / CAL CLUB members. We live in and around the El Toro / Irvine area and are interested in getting indoctrinated to the Autocross venue. Plz provide necessary links to get info so we can start taking advantage of what Autocross has to offer. thx mucho

Welcome Dad & Daughter!. The majority of our events take place at AutoClub Speedway in Fontana, with a few at Santa Anita Racetrack in Arcadia. Events consist of a practice on Saturday and a Championship on Sunday. Details on upcoming events and registration is at https://solo2.motorsportreg.com/ Practices have limited entries, championships do not. While Championship may sound more serious, they have specific things for new people, including instructors available. If you haven't already done so, check out the info in the New to Autocross area viewforum.php?f=22
You can also just show up to a Saturday or Sunday and see how things are done, meet people with similar cars and go for ride alongs. See you out there!

Welcome Robert. You'll love running the car with your kid. I've been running with my kid for years now, and it's been absolutely great!

We have an event this weekend. If you want to jump in, I'd recommend signing up....right now:

https://solo2.motorsportreg.com/events/ ... cca-145370

You can sign up for Saturday (just a spot or two left), or Sunday (no entry cap for Sundays). Saturday is our practice day (more runs, a little less structured, jump in cars with everybody to learn). Sunday is our competition day, but don't let the "competition" word scare you, it's the same fun, we just keep score on Sundays (so a little more structured, you have to put numbers on your car...painters tape is fine). Both days we have help for novices. Just let us know it's your first time and we'll hook you up. We have dedicated instructor lanes on Sunday (all instruction is free), and on Saturdays we can find you some help for your first few laps if you just let us know you want some. Just speak up at the registration table and/or at the driver's meeting and we're happy to help you get your feet wet!

There's a forecast for some rain this weekend, but we run rain or shine! Rain is actually quite challenging and our opportunities to practice in the wet are limited in California, so it's well worth taking advantage of if you want to get into this sport.

Either way, don't be shy....sign up....come on out....get some instruction....and I guarantee you'll have a good time (and Daddy/Daughter bonding will be just icing on the cake!). And if you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask, we're a big family here and we're all happy to help new folks get involved in our club.

See you out there!

How old is your daughter? If under 18, we'll need to let you know about the minor waiver procedures.

My son just turned 16. He's run Karts since his 5th birthday, but this season we're co-driving a car. Pretty cool to do that!

To add to Steve's comment. We need a minor waiver signed by both parents (and notarized or witnessed by an event official) before we can let a minor in a car. If mom isn't coming to the event, that creates a problem. You can have the minor waive notarized with both parents signatures (usually free at your local bank). Or, I live in Orange County (RSM) and am happy to witness the signing as one of the club's event officials if it would help to get it done that way. I work in Tustin, live in RSM and am happy to meet to act as the witness. Either way, Steve is right on with the reminder to get the minor waivers handled.

Minor waivers are available at http://solo2.com, click on Events then Minor Waivers. And side note: we need them printed in color to be valid (insurance company requirement).

While the daughter may be under 18 and we need to know that, did you guys notice she has her own car, not sharing with dad (2015 GT vs 2018 GT)?
