Next event?

Post by Jason Swindle »

It appears that many counties are starting to relax restrictions on "outdoor" activities as long as they are "non-contact", allows for social distancing, and uses face covers. I think our sport fits this bill. Any thoughts on when our next event might be?

One example is:

https://rivcoph.org/Portals/0/Documents ... 7427206024

I'm itching to be back at it (like I'm sure many of you are).

Thanks,
Jason

ps. I emailed the Fontana mayor to ask her when we might expect similar relaxation in Fontana.

An event in June would be helpful prep for the July Fontana ProSolo, am just saying :)

Thanks for starting that inquiry Jason. Hopefully we can get some clarification from the city and then we can start to re-engage with the Speedway to see if they are ready to let us back in as well.

No more ride-alongs for a while but I guess that's not really an issue for you

June was canceled by the speedway not us, so nothing there.

Santa Anita hasn't been responding back, not much more there.

Last place for us to try would be Temecula. or you'll have to travel. There are two events in Packwood if you want some towing practice with it, lol

I assume you mean Lake Elsinore, 20 miles closer than Temecula (and only 5 miles for me!).

If the city and county open "outdoor" activities up, wouldn't it be worth approaching CA Speedway about uncanceling the June event?

Thanks,

Are we planning on business as usual, or changing things up?

Is there a plan in place or being developed for a "new" way of doing things?

Maybe mandatory pre-reg and payment so no registration on site other than check-in.

Driver's meeting by FM to car radios only.

A policy on masks. A policy on passengers.

These things might appeal to the Speedway when trying to get permission to restart.

Of course no matter what you decide, some are going to think it's too much and some too little.

Not sure. We are fielding ideas. You are welcome to contribute yours.

yes, although it will likely be a bunch of "shoulds" instead of "forcing" people to do something. If someone is worried about catching the virus or is an at risk population they should 100% make the decision based upon their own determination of the risk or lack there of.

Between unsold cars and rental cars, fleet trucks, and in-car testing lines........ Large parking lots are in even shorter supply.

Does anyone live close enough to AAA to have a look at "our" lot? With everything starting to open back up, maybe we can have the June event???

Have we been in touch with AAA?

Thanks,
Jason

We are in touch with them, they are still withholding dates last I talked to Stephen. One of our members has done a few fly-overs and informed us that most of the lots are packed full of cars at the moment so I wouldn't hold your breath just yet
