FREE PRACTICE June 21st

Post by George Schilling »

THIS IS SO COOL!

On June 21st, we will be holding a FREE AUTOX PRACTICE on the infield course at AAA Speedway. In the 6 years since I've been autoxing, this is the first time that I know of that we have had access to the infield course, and to be able to enjoy this at no cost is UNBELIEVABLE.

This works very similar to the recent Z event only WAY BETTER. You volunteer to work Friday or Saturday before the practice in exchange for a FREE SHIRT, FREE FOOD, FREE DRINK, and a FREE PIT PASS to a WORLD CLASS RACING EVENT at AAA Speedway. Hey, I've done this for the past 4 years for just for the PIT PASS and FOOD, but now their throwing in a FREE PRACTICE ON THE INFIELD TRACK AT AAA SPEEDWAY. WAY COOL!

It gets even better! You can bring a FRIEND along who gets the SAME DEAL. Whether you're just a fan of racing, have raced before, or just dreamed about racing, you can join in. There's no experience necessary. If your new to our sport, this is a great way to make new friends.

Follow the link below for details, pictures of past events, and information on how you can sign up. I'll see you there.

Oh and if you have any questions about the event or autoxing, ask away!

That's a parking lot.

This one uses the Infield road course ... with added cone elements. The telephoto lens makes it look tighter, more compressed then it actually was. The question is, will they "open it up" by removing the passing zones used during the FSAE Endurance trials?

As many as we can get, more volunteers = less work or any one person, which helps in Fontana if it ends up being hot.

Infield course, just like the picture Mako posted. Using the endurance/autocross course with some tweaks to make it drivable in a full size car.

Just to add to what Christine posted, the FSAE Endurance course uses part of the Infield Road Course at AAA Speedway and some of the service road/RV parking, for example, the portion of the course in Mako's photo.

It is not a part of any parking lot.

Hey Mako,

We don't generally post the maps, but I will dig last years out and send it to you tonight.

the course is about 1 Km (.62 miles)

BTW, sinse we have so much room, we may also set up a separate slalom.

The course is set up in the center of the speedway... as in ON THE RACETRACK!!!

I can't wait to do this!!!

I may be like a lot of other folks out there..... I'll be there IF I don't have work on those days. So I can't commit until close to the last second.

Yes the course will have to be opened up to some extent, hopefully more than just a little to make them fun,

I'm concerned however that we can't fit a SCCA legal course in the same section we run the FSAE course in, distance to edge of grass, distance to the bathroom we run past ect. Then there's the FSAE rules (if memory serves correct) requiring the course to be either 10 or 12' wide. SCCA Solo rules require no less than 15' wide. A few other requirements for their course will also need to be junked to fit a real car through like their z turns prior to the flag stations.

All that aside.... Awesome that we will have the opportunity, just think more planning of the course will be involved than moving a few cones from the FSAE course.

What will happen if we can't make it to the practice on Sunday but still work the FSAE event? Do we just miss out or will we get 'solobux' or something similar? Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure about the answers for those last two questions from Leticia and Kyle, so I am checking and will get back to you all with an answer.

The practice is for CSCC volunteers that work in the dynamic events, this includes setup,

Volunteering will get you entry into the Sunday practice...

The practice will be first come first serve...

CSCC volunteers that don't get into the practice on Sunday will most likely get Solobucks.

The event chair for the practice will provide more details shortly...

Cheers,

Ian
