Aug. 8th 2X Practice ... Excellent Event !

Post by Mako Koiwai »

Thanks to everyone ... Terrific Event IMO

Lots of Happy People. The Two Course layout worked very well ... perhaps the group running the 10 second slower Course 1 should have been given an extra run? Seems like that side was always finished a good bit before the Course 2 run group ....

Seems like the Slalom area was put to good use. Nice to have something else to do between running and working ...

Did the Jr. Karting Section work out ?

As event master, I really appreciate everybody's help yesterday setting up and today keeping it running. Running two shows at once could have been a great deal harder without the cooperation and sheer enthusiasm to help that some exhibited.

One more El Toro event before Lincoln....

Yes! Saturdays practice event rocked! Looked to me like everyone was having a good time. I know I was. The dual course setup is a really good idea too! Thanks Leonard for walking the course with me. Really helped a lot.
Great weather, friendly atmosphere, learning new stuff and meeting new people! What more could you ask for....(faster car?) :D

Agreed, it was great! Thanks to all involved for putting it up and ensuring that some of who haven't gotten into many other practices had another opportunity to work on our driving. :)

I especially loved the difference in style between the two courses.

Finally back home after a long weekend that included a great practice day. I really enjoyed everything about this event. Thanks to those that put in the extra work, specially KJ.

Getting the Noble a bit more dialed in.

I thought Pete and Guy did a great job with the courses. I really enjoyed both. I wasn't sure about Guy's at first, but after driving it a few times, I loved it. The right hander across the chute into the walloms was awesome.

Jamie also brought in a bunch of new Customers ... including a couple of Monster Miata's.

I got to drive the one without powering steering. The power, and lack of rear grip was pretty crazy ... some type of all weather rubber. It made the SuperCharged (regular) Miata look like it was ... our Miata. :( The owner drove our Miata, and LOVED the thing we call balance and handling. :D

Thanks to Jason/Stephen, Jonathon, Ken/Mike/Lily, and Jeff/Nicole for letting me drive your cars this weekend. I had a great time - we sure have a strong ST group! The courses were fun and I really liked the format. Thanks again! Leslie

I couldn't make it, but that certainly is a good way to expand the learning experience for novices.

Reminds me of my El Toro spider story...

I go into the porta potty last year on Friday set up day for the Divisional. While in there, I see a brown widow. I peed on it which seemed to not kill but anger it. Finish my business and GTFO of there. I run into Chuck, Diana and Ashley as I come out and we're talking about 20 feet away. Meanwhile, Tom Denham goes in before I have a chance to warn him. After about 15 seconds we hear a commotion coming from the porta potty. After about 30 more seconds Tom comes out and exclaims, "There was the biggest f***ing spider I've ever seen in there so I killed it with my shoe!"

The end.

That was my first time holding a spider. I was surprised with how soft the 'fur' felt.
