Guys, this is a Sticky thread to keep relevant information and discussion for the September 13th and 14th weekend easily accessible.

Please do not post OT messages or I will unleash the Hounds of Grice on you, and that isn't pretty.

Thank you,

Mike

Everyone please note - I have removed the Cash Only requirement for this event. Checks are back in fashion... (though anyone will tell ya, Cash is King.)

And I'll point out again that we're shooting for 4 runs per entry. Buy a set of X-runs, and you'll get 8!

I keep hearing people confused about XRuns. Please make it clear that you do not have to run your Xruns in the same heat as your competition runs, just after. You can run then in the same heat if you use the multiple driver lane and are a single driver.

I'm not sure where this myth got started that you can only run them in the same heat but I've actually heard registration workers perpetuate it.

X runs are cool. Work once, run up to 8 laps and do it all in a single half of the day if you like. All for less money than a practice. I stopped going to a lot of practices because of all the laps we can run on Sunday. Think about that next time you complain about not getting into a practice or not getting enough seat time.

Have you read the "Who We Are" document in the Newbie box on the Solo2 site lately? I've been adding new material about how we run and I recently added the info you asked about to a paragraph about X runs.

Steve, please take a look. I would be interested in any feed back you have about what is there and anything that you feel is missing. We sometimes repeat our old mistakes, but with good documentation about lessons learned, the relearning curve should be shortening.

And we will certainly be talking about it on Sunday so everybody there knows.

John-

I didn't realize that had been updated. I hardly ever go to the website now that we have the forums so separate.

I like it, looks really good and clear. Everybody should check it out.

John,

Looks good. Can you add to the minor waviers about a minor competitor needs both parents/legal guardian signature and witness by a SCCA member or notarized?

Also can we add the link http://www.solo2.com/MiscDocuments/WhoWeAre.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to the message board "newbie" section as a sticky?

I will edit that paragraph to add the verbage the next time I update the form. I want to collect any additional comments and change it once, probably before the end of the year.

The webmaster can look at adding the link.

Isn't that true of any minor entering in a hot area?

I also think we should require one parent to attend the first event in which a minor -- 16 or 17 years old -- participates. Better to have at least one parent know what the sport is about and signing that waiver in front of an SCCA witness.

True and that's why the SSS has to keep a sharp eye out over the whole site.

Seems like we ought to have a special wrist band or something for minors who have jumped through all the hoops. That way an SSS who sees kid in grid or getting into a car for a ride can easily scan the situation and act. Otherwise its a very annoying task and won't get done properly.

And on the user side I think having a process established will make it more clear to minors and parents alike.

Are the Jr. and Student prices on the flyer good for Day Of, On Site registration for non-members?

Students have to be 24 or younger, with a current school ID card. X-runs will still be $25.

I don't recall the details for Juniors but the pricing is correct.

Nope. People are still dropping out so I'm shuffling in alternates. I wasn't anticipating that at such a late date but I've decided to hold off to create the work and run groups until tomorrow night. I'll just have them at registration on Saturday.
