Hey, Firemen, thank you very much!!

Everyone that helped put out the fire a really big THANK YOU.

I tried to find a way to blame it on QV, but to no avail--It was me... I didn't center the valve cover gasket and oil was forced out and on to the headers....

The good news---no major mechanical or structural damage. Some of the rubber hoses were cooked but some were not, so the fire didn't do as much damage under the hood as it first appeared. The plastic float in one carb was damaged but the other was not.... So other than replacing all the plastic and rubber stuff, cleaning the surfaces is the biggest job....

I had begun the process of getting ready to paint and redo the body and I didn't want to remove the stickers and was thinking about buying new fenders anyway, sure answered that question..

Again, Thank You everyone that helped put out the fire so that the damage was not catastrophic.

Glad to hear it didn't turn out too bad under the hood.

Don, I'm really glad that it turned out better than what it looked like.

Yes, thank you to everyone who helped & those who checked in with me afterward. Also thanks for all the offers of co-drives Saturday & Sunday. And of course, thanks Don for being so cool about the whole thing. I really appreciate it!

I might have to wear this woot shirt I got a while back more often to events now:

Always a bummer to have something like this happen, but I'm very happy to hear the damage is not more serious!
