IF YOU DON'T understand what that means, here's what you should know in case we have what is pretty rare event at a Solo event: a car fire.

We currently have several ABC fire bottles that put out on course and should have close at hand near the start, finish and grid. These extinguishers spray a dry chemical powder suitable for putting out fires from wood/paper/chemicals/electrics.

Having worked dozens of events over the past decade the biggest mistake I've seen is aiming the spray at the flames. That won't work. ALWAYS aim at or below the base of the fire. With any under hood car fire, that means pointing the nozzle UNDER the front of the car and sweeping back and forth.

That's important for two reasons. First, it's the most effective way to put out a fire. Second, it uses less compound.

*THIS IS NOT MEANT AS A CRITIQUE OF THE EFFORTS MADE BY SEVERAL PEOPLE ON SATURDAY. If anything, I failed as event chief to ensure we had what we needed, where we needed it to be.
