Oops.......somebody missed the memo!

Keep in mind, that in either case, the request MUST be made before the event takes place.

We worry about "customer service" and "declining attendance" then we deny a request made a short time after the event? Really? Doesn't seem very customer friendly.

I think you might be confusing practices with competition days. On practice days, we can be much more laid back and accommodating to special needs.

When it comes to competition, if we don't enforce rules for all to abide, we may as well don clown hats and choose the winner by popular vote.

While I do see both sides, this thread has been going on for two months with over 35 posts bumping it to the top. OTH, don't know Mark's circumstance, may have been a last minute decision to go.

He's an emerging regular, and that's enough for me to say give it to him.

What's the reason for the rule?

I figure there has to be some cutoff. So somebody doesn't go at the end of the year, "hey, I should have an avg not a zero." Meanwhile the rest of the class has relied on the points as shown. And the pointskeeper is already end of year busy. And the board doesn't even meet in December.

But here the request is right after. Nobody is prejudiced. Any reason I can see for having the rule doesn't apply. Application of the rule to deny is simply because we can find a technical breach of the rule. Nothing here would destroy the competition of our Autocross Sunday #6 and turn it into a beauty contest. Common sense and fairness don't matter when we adopt zero tolerance, rule is a rule attitudes. George would be the first one to call out a liberal school board for some stupid zero tolerance policy used to suspend a kid for utter non-sense. But here when he has the power, he becomes "them". I don't get it. But whatever. I stopped trying a long time ago.

Steve, leave it to you to use a lighthearted admonishment on a minor rules issue to launch a personal attack.
