Need a Safety Steward - Big Bear Jun 29

Post by Jayson Woodruff »

There are no details to be deciminated just yet, but there will be a Charity event similar to the "Inside the Oval" events I've put on in the past at the Big Bear airport on Jun 29th and it will be SCCA sanctioned. Watch for info on a new thread in a couple weeks.

BUT, my now need is for a Solo Safety Steward to volenteer for this event. Those of you who've worked for me in "SCCA offical" capacity in the past know how easy I make it on my volenteer officials (REAL easy for those of you that don't know). I will find a 'back up' Safety Steward so my SS of record can take several laps.

Please chime in here or e-mail me:

Thanks,

Jay W

Shauna and I can cover as SSS and back up. Will you need me to secure the sanction?
If so, can you please send a list of officials.

Chair
Gate
SSS

No kid karts, so no need for youth steward.
Thanks,

@Anthony To become a licensed SSS you have to be trained by an SSS certified to teach. I was trained by Gayle and Bob Jardine many years ago. We typically do that at an SSS school every couple of years. Existing SSS license holders often attend as well to refresh their licenses. Once trained, you need to put in a few hours as a deputy SSS shadowing an event SSS. Then you get signed off and you're licensed! As a region we should probably be looking forward on the calendar and thinking about hosting an SSS school sometime in the next 12 months. Maybe coordinate with SDR and hold it at a place in South OC so both regions can benefit.

Kinda off topic...but can someone just come up for the autocross event and not do the rest of the Bash stuff? Might make a great excuse to go visit Grandma's cabin up there!

Sunday is completely unassociated with the Big Bear Bash (Saturday's Corvette stuff) except for the fact that I'm leveraging resources with them.

Yes, that'd be awesome. So that'd be Chair = Me (308692), SSS = You and put Mike Egunia down for gate (I'll get the SCCA# if you don't have it on file).

THanks,
