July 18-19 Course Setup/Changeover

Post by Jonathan Lugod »

I need one more worker for course setup and changeover after Saturday's practice. This will count as your work assignment for the weekend.

1. Michael Yanase (Saturday Only)
2. Lily Liu
3. Guy Walker

Course setup on Friday is still in the air in terms of time pending use of runways. Its looking like sometime after 4pm. Please text me for details and updates. 760-716-2927

I'll be there too, though probably not initially, to do motorhome setup/placement and timing lights. Let me know if you have any questions about motorhome access or getting stuff out of it. Actually designed so after removing a few things, you can leave the big side door open and drive it around and unload cones directly on course. No need to transfer them to another vehicle.

MEET AT 6AM TOMORROW- EL TORO COURSE SETUP

Do Not Arrive at EL Toro today. The runways are in use and we are not allowed in without consent.

Wait. What?

If course walks start at 7:00a and close at 8:15a, that leaves only 1 hour for course setup. Is that correct? If so, then the course must be either a really short course or one without many cones.

You youngins are so spoiled! In the olden days, all courses were set up the day of the event. In the snow. Up hill both ways. Plus we only had practices once or twice a year, so it was just Sunday events.

So we could probably use a little extra help, just out the goodness of your heart, not as a work assignment. Don't worry about the grid, cone marking or course lining until the course is laid out so it can be walked. Even though sunrise is at 5:55, you could probably start earlier (assuming they let us in earlier).

Unless you know something I don't (and you probably do), on those occasions when I arrived early due to Chief duties, they would not open the gate prior to 6:00 a.m. Maybe a couple minutes early but not more than that.

El Toro Gates will not open until 6am. I will not be using many cones so it would be important if I had someone lining the chalk lines.

I have attached the course map for Saturday. Any help will be appreciated.

Grey = chalklines
Orange = pointer
Black = cones
Black line = cone placement every 4 paces.
