Important Change to El Toro Entrance

Postby KJ Christopher » Wed Jul 06, 2016 10:20 am

The Marine Way closure is scheduled to begin today and will likely last three months. Runway access will be through the Astor gate which is adjacent to the Fed Ex Cargo facility at Fairbanks and Alton. Please see full map attached.

If you have navigation available, navigate to the intersection of Astor and Marine Way in Irvine. This will take you directly to the entrance gate. Once inside the gate, make an immediate left turn and follow the perimeter road until you see our usual entrance to the runways on the right. Easy peasy!

And to double down on instructions, "old site" means turn right at 2:40 in video.

Here's a realistic map, not that weird thing in the first post provided by the city. And if you have navigation, just put in 9201 Astor, Irvine, and it puts you right at the entrance.

If you are coming from South i.e. on I5-North then click here and it will throw you into Google Maps and show you a real map.

Robert-

Coming from that direction I think exiting Bake to Toledo is marginally faster.

Hey Paul,

Use the map above. And use Rick's suggestion of plugging " 9201 Astor, Irvine" into your GPS. Once you go through the gate onto the base, turn left. Eventually you'll see the train station on your left and soon a bunch of palm trees that stick out like a sore thumb. That little intersection/stop sign is where you turn up on the runways. We're limited to where we can be these days, so we won't be all that far from that intersection, you can't miss it from there.

I'll be there this weekend and will report back if it's any different.

There will also be signs once you are inside the gate.
