FS: '85 and '87 MR2s, $1000

Post by Jayson Woodruff »

I'm getting out of the MR2 business.

Cars are both in Irvine, Ca (92614) at different houses though. There great project potential on each of these cars (STS2, CSP, Rally, $200x Challenge, Tour De LeMons).

Cars to be sold as a pair for $1000 total.

1987 Hardtop
200K+ mi. Very dirty/dusty from Stock Class RallyCross. Mostly stock throughout. Front shocks could be replaced. One wheel bearing going bad. Some weirdness in the lighting electronics. Ignition switch starting to wear out (one key only works). Transmission rebuilt and clutch replaced <10Kmiles. Oil getting used, I think it's the valve guides. Hard cold starts, likely due to the valve guides. Cat is likely bad due to oil poisioning (I don't think it'd pass smog as is). Will drive fairly well and is California registered. Did I mention its dirty?

1985 Hardtop
200K+ mi on chassis. Bought this car on this list about a year ago. Semi-preped for road racing. Red Top motor installed. Low and stiff springs. Racing steering wheel. I've raced it a couple times at AutoX and one TimeTrial. Something recently went wonky in the battery/charging electrical. I think the alternator might have shorted out and took the battery down with it. Was running fairly well before that. To get it test started and running might involve a battery swap and no alternator hooked up. Is registered PNO in California.

I've lost count of how many wheels/tires I have, but there will be a set for every occasion (including snow, r-compound and street). They're all going with the cars.

Wait, $1000 for 2 (dos) (dalawa) MR2s?
Edit: Just learned to read bottom of post.
Those cars sound like they're in worse shape than my Audi.

I'm interested.

Probably. But I think someone with minor MR2 skill and a tolerance for dirt could get each of these running like a champ in a weekend.
