**SOLD** SCCA road racing - F-production Miata 1.6L

Post by Brian Linn »

Come join your friends, Jason Isley and Toby Larsson, in the wonderful world of SCCA Production racing!

1990 F-production Miata, nationally competitive. Take advantage of the great Mazdaspeed support and get some of the Mazda contingency money in 2016!

Purchased this car in 2008 from Mark Stone. Finished 4th at the first Road America Runoffs in '09. Many upgrades since that time. Car was driven by Steve Hussey in 2013 and sat in 2014 and '15 while I drove a Lotus 7 and Honda CRX. I did run it in mid once in 2013 and Jan 2014 at Fontana. Car holds the lap records at Fontana and Buttonwillow. Lost the Thunderhill lap record to Huffaker's MG this last season by .065 sec.

ENGINE - full Jesse Prather Motorsports effort. very little time on it since last rebuild in 2013, prior to Runoffs.
JPM cams
JPM headwork - limited prep legal
JPM headers
JPM throttle body- to secure butterfly
JPM modified oil pan
JPM lightened stock rods
JPM fuel rail
RC engineering fuel injectors
JPM headers/collector
5.5" Powertrain dual disc clutch complete
JPM billet steel flywheel @ 7.5 lbs
BHJ full race damper with trigger wheel and hub.

SUSPENSION
Penske shocks built for this car in 2013, tuned by Guy Ankeny
V8 Roadsters tubular lower front and rear control arms, custom front upper control arm
Racing Beat front sway bar with custom alu pillow blocks
bump steered front end
JPM modified front spindles
multiple rear end ratios (need to check to see what I have), one with an OS Giken and the balance with Torsen
rear CV-joints "blueprinted & balanced" by MiataCage. They do a treatment similar to REM finishing

BODY
custom front and rear fenders - more aerodynamic than Mazdaspeed flares.
Mazdaspeed fiberglass hood
Mazdaspeed front nose
Mazdaspeed fiberglass trunk lid - this is showing it's age
Mazdaspeed fiberglass rear bumper
Pennen carbon fiber windscreen
(2) front air dams - own design, removable for easier loading into trailer
painted "Nissan Daytona blue" with custom graphics - won Black Magic award at 2012 Runoffs for best of Prod cars

TRANSMISSION
STOCK Miata transmission- at price listed - this was installed during the 2014 season as a back up to the Lotus7 in case I needed a finish and test at the lighter weight

Transmission options at additional cost:
- Barrington Engineering Miata case dog ring box (4 speed + pit gear) - freshly rebuilt
- PBS with new JPM modified bellhousing to mate to Miata. This hasn't been in the car, and is not a direct bolt-in. I bought this transmission from Tony Jimerson in 2013.
Jess Heitman kit to mount PBS into a Miata

WHEELS - pick a size
(2) sets of 15" x 7" Kosei K1 TS, approx 11.7lbs wheels, need to double check the weight. Not 13lbs Spec Miata wheels (seen in lower 2 photos)
OR
(3) sets of 13" x 7" Panasports 3pc wheels (seen in upper photo)

MISC
Willwood pedal assembly with cockpit adjustable bias - steel braid lines, Tilton master cylinders
aluminum driveshaft
Fuel Safe 12gal fuel cell
13 pound halon system
Momo steering wheel
Accusump
System1 oil filter - re-useable, cleanable

Roll cage is tall enough for most drivers - see top photo.
also available to buyer: 1990 Mazda Miata with about 150K miles with hard top. This was purchased as a parts car and driven on the street for a few years. It is weathered. Has a set of Team Dynamics Pro1.0 Spec Miata wheels

Not a super motivated seller, so no need to low-ball. No intention of selling parts/transmissions before the car goes.
Thanks for looking

SOLD!

Brian,

You failed to list a price....
While you ask for no low-ballers, with out a target price your only encouraging such.

By the way, Nice driving at the Runnoffs this year, that was one exciting race to watch.

This is an incredibly well prepared car for anyone considering going w2w .

The Production category is also well attended with a really stable rule set.

Oops - asking $25K with stock transmission. If you want one of the other transmissions, we can work on a price.

Thanks on the Runoffs. It was an exciting race, more damage at the end than anyone cares for, but stuff happens.
