Car battery recommendation

Post by Stephen Yeoh »

I suspect I'll need to replace the battery in my GL soon. Any recommendations for a good battery? Or ones to stay away from?

12 volts. Works better than two 6 volt and saves weight, too. ;)

I have always preferred OEM batteries in the MB, even if they are expensive.

NAPA carries oem fitment for Mercedes. I turn the key, car starts. Under $150. Probably a bit less expensive than the dealer option.

Ease, convenience, price: Costco

Nuf Said!

But on a serious side, there are three companies make probably 95% of the automotive batteries in the USA: Johnson Controls, Exide, and East Penn.
- No matter the name on the sticker, one of those three companies likely made it.

Oh, and those Costco batteries (Kirkland Signature) - Johnson Control.

True, if they happen to carry a battery that fits your car. Downside to Costco, selection limited to popular sizes.
