X-ray wheels for damage

Post by Eric Wong »

Any recommendations on places in the LA area that can X-ray used wheels and control arms for cracks? And how much would that cost? Thanks.

Interesting. Usually it's not worth it vs buying new wheels.

X-ray is probably not the right tool for that job. Unless the part is thin or the crack is large enough to extend all the way through the part, the x-ray is just going to pick up all the metal behind any cracks that may exist and show you a solid part. Even a Doctor can't see a fine crack in a bone on x-ray. You'll probably need a dye penetrant test or some form of a electromagnetic inspection.
