Re: Emergency Surgery for Steve Towers
Good news. I was able to pay a visit to Steve this morning and I'm happy to report that he is looking and doing much better. :gpower:
He's still a bit groggy, thirsty and hungry, but is very much looking forward to making the trip to Lincoln come hell or high water. He's been accepted into the Pro Solo as well, so game on.
With any luck, he's thinking he may be able to come home perhaps Saturday or Sunday. :gpower:
He doesn't have access to a computer yet, but I passed on everyone's well wishes and he's certainly appreciative of your thoughts and prayers.

Not sure but could this be a really dramatic plan to reduce personal weight to add performance to a super stock corvette? }:)

Re: Emergency Surgery for Steve Towers
It's just before 6pm Thurs the 11th. First time near computer since Sunday am. Thanks to each of you for your prayers and good thoughts. Probabably the difference maker. It all started as a wee tummy ache on Satuday morning, then morphed into chills, fever, nausia by Sat nigh.t Sunday was spent in bed with varying levels of increasing pain until my wife insisted I go to emergency. Some pokining and prodding revealed peritonitus, caused by a perforated intestine. That leaked bacteria into the adjacent cavity, causing the pain. Went under the knife around 3 am Monday. About 18 inches of intestine was removed and several drain valves installed. Then came several days being really uncomfortable and no sleep.
Good news! As I was typing this the surgeon came in, checked me out and pronounced I 'm doing very well and get to go home tomorrow.
I'm sure that without your prayers and good thoughts my recovery would't have gone near as well. Thank you,
Steve

Thank the LORD for mercy and modern medicine. Very happy to hear your going home, do rest. Will continue to keep your recovery in prayer. If you make the Pro and Nationals, sounds like a great article on perseverance for either SportsCar or Road & Track. Glad to see you back on line.

Glad to hear your're recovering well, Steve. Even if they did have to remove a slalom or two from your internal course!

HOME!
And I'll never take it for granted again. Hug your family and tell them you love them. Cherish your friends. My Doc tells me I was just a couple of hours from the point of no return. All from a small stomach ache. Truly life changing. Many challenges on the horizon.
Again, thank you all for your support.

I should stop by the boards more often. Steve, I'm glad you're back home and hope you're close to mended.
