What? No mention of the Lincoln variant? That was a dead give-away...Doug Kott wrote:Here's our contribution to the April Fools' follies:

I was worried for a while there. Unless they programmed the cars to periodically take each other out, attendance would surely drop off.Mako Koiwai wrote:http://www.nascar.com/video/none/none/1 ... ar-google/

On a side note, my friend sent this to me of something real: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rjLnBpB ... ure=relmfu
More development (less commercial-feel): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2UaYIHiiOA
Then they did it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6Hq4hdB ... ure=fvwrel

Those folks at Stanford are doing some impressive stuff. I rode in their VW Touareg TDI (euro-spec 5 cylinder, shipped to them direct from VW with wired interfaces to all the drive-by-wire bits ready to go!) back in 2004 while it was still in development. We went for a trip around a quonset hut on campus with a grad student working the gas and the computer steering. Very cool stuff. This is the vehicle that was the first to finish the DARPA Grand Challenge, coming in first place in 2005.
