Good Transmission Shop in the Southbay Area?

Post by Chris Hofmann »

So i work in Hawthore, live in Carson, and I need a transmission shop. at 170,000 miles (most of them racing) The transmission in the cobalt is giving up. I think its ate a few syncros. I have a clutch, clutch fluid, and flywheel in hand (because might as well at this point) but i am lookin for a place that can go over the trans and rebuild it so I know it will be bulletproof again. I just dont know who is good, who has good prices, etc. Was hoping some of you could point me in the right direction as I need to do this soon- its getting worse, heh. Thanks.

Some clutches use a slave cylinder. Maybe that's what he's referring to. Otherwise, he might want to check the horizontal osillator bearings. ;)

Hiro's Transmissions in Gardena (near Gardena Blvd and Vermont) is used by a lot of Formula Drift teams for tranny rebuilds. You might try giving them a call!

Hiro's was on my list. Wound up going with Bothwell Automotive in Torrance. Great work, and very upfront and honest about everything.
