I was sent a DL1 that would only power up and im having trouble diagnosing the issues.

1) I can format a CF card for fat16 to load the setup.bin file but the my computer wont recognize it. its 16gb. What do modern users of old DL1's use?

2) Without a CF card inserted I can get power to the unit and 3.3v out of the GPS co-axial but no GPS lock. Replaced antenna and still no gps lock.

Currently the Power, Status, and Logging light come on briefly upon power up then only the Power light remains lit. All others never light up.

Im open to all ideas anyone have anything I could try?

so no connection with the file explorer with the serial cable. so I pulled it apart.

No voltage on the internal battery. Ill swap that and see if it changes anything

I use 2gb CF cards. I vaguely remember having a problem trying to use a 16gb card.

Any thoughts as to why I cant "see" the DL1 with the serial cable?

is the serial cable a straight through or a 'null modem' cable?

null modem cable. has continuity between pins 2 and 3

That's what im leaning towards and Race Technology USA doesn't work on the Mk1 Dl1's anymore... Ah well.
