Apparently winning the SoCal NASA championship comes down to showing up... more than winning races.

Like anything else when you show up to all 12 races you have a higher chance of winning on points. Even taking that into account he does a pretty good job of keeping up.

Wilson does a pretty good job of keeping up, but his budget doesn't allow him to spend the money on his motor that the top dog guys do. He got really into Chumpcar racing so he's pursing that instead of Spec Miata. Only showing the top 14 rather than the whole field.
