Official CSCC Social: Detailing 101 Clinic @ Meguiars HQ

Post by Michael Palero »

CSCC is having our first Social event of 2016!

What is it?

A free detailing clinic at Meguiar's Headquarters in Irvine, CA.

I have spoken to my contact at Meguiar's, and they have Saturday blocked off for SCCA & Cal Club members only.

Meguiar's can take 35 people maximum at this event.
The event is free.
Sign-up requirement for the event will be a MeguiarsOnline forum sign up. ( http://www.meguiarsonline.com )

Bring a nice car to this event.
Competition cars preferred.

Code: Select all

The goal of these events is to give people a chance to:
Try out products they may have never used or even known about.
Learn the correct technique for applying and removing specific products or using different tools.
Ask questions, get answers to specific problems
Have fun!

These classes are not for bringing your car down to do a complete detail as in machine polishing and waxing the entire car. We will show you the products and techniques using a fender or the hood so that you learn how to do the process yourself at home.
Class Details:

Location
Time: March 12th, 2016 8:00am to 3:00pm
Place: Meguiar's Inc
17991 Mitchell South

Format is 3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab.
Coffee, doughnuts and lunch are provided.

Registration:
http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/sh ... .php?64127
Note: Forum approval may take up to 3 days.

Class Itinerary:
8:00AM to 8:30AM - Coffee and donuts (provided)
8:30AM to Noon - Classroom instruction (break around 10:15AM)
Noon to 12:30PM - Lunch (provided)
12:30PM to 3:00PM - Hands on instruction in the garage where we put new found knowledge to practical use
Classes Size Limitations:
35 People - This is due to limited space in the classroom.

Cost for the Class:
The price is free, but Megiuar's ask that you become a member on their forum and reply to the sign-up thread.

IMPORTANT NOTE:You are only allowed to sign-up for yourself and immediate family members that are living under the same roof. Friends, family and other club members will need to sign-up for themselves.

This is a good FREE event. Good info to learn. Nice, clean environment. GREAT instruction (if by M. Stoops).

The donuts are good, too. :)

I love Michael. He was promoted to Senior Global Product & Training, so Nicholas Winn took over!

How's the paint on the EF doing? Are the Comic Sans outlines still there? :)

Yeah, he's a cool dude with good stories. One of the maintenance guys here looks a bit like him!

Paint is still looking good. I haven't done any correction to it. Just washes. I keep it under a car cover, and it's garage-kept. I want to detail the interior someday. (Maybe in June).

Comic Sans (my fave) outlines are still there. The Tire Rack banner and the Toyo Tires one on the hood are starting to deteriorate.

Coincidentally, I was up late last night going thru some pics I had forgotten about. Here are two:

Crazy it's still hasn't been detailed since I touched it.
Have you been neglecting the wax on the horizontals, or are those just reflections on the front bumper?

It's fair! This actually balanced out with my "red" CRX that was so faded, it looked pink. AND, the roof was already mostly primer :(

(older pic showing paint already losing it's red)

You did a crazy good job on it. That's my take on it. It doesn't get out much, and even when I drive it to work, I park her in the structure AND still use a car cover. ;)

No way man. Well, yes. I haven't waxed it yet. But no, not what you think. That pic of the roof is reflecting the clouds overhead. The bumper, well, that's clear coat failure. But that's how I got it. Here's a pic taken within days of me getting the car home:

It is free. You'll be using their chemicals, tools and towels.

One thing we will not be doing is washing any cars, so please don't come expecting a wash or rinse!

Combine that with a Meguiars Detailing kit and a suggestion that you spend Valentine's Day together detailing your car.........

On second thought, maybe traditional flowers or chocolate might be a better bet!

I had a blast this past weekend with you guys, and we weren't even on a racetrack!
Hopefully now I can have less swirl distractions in grid with everyone using proper wash technique =P

Check out the photos over at Meguiar's Online: http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/sh ... zUP8cYj.97
And don't forget to drop Nick a post if you liked the class!
