Vehicles eligible for CST must comply with the rules of CSM, with the exception that all of the tires mounted on the car must have a TREADWEAR number of 140 or higher molded by the manufacturer on the sidewall.
CALIFORNIA STREET MODIFIED (CSM):
Vehicles eligible for CSM must be capable of being licensed for street use in California, shall be run on DOT approved tires and must meet all SCCA Solo Safety requirements.
That's the rules, in their entirety, from our Sup Regs.

Re: CST rules?
Thank you Rick.....
SM rules I should be looking at in the Solo rule book.
Can you add a supercharger to the vehicle......and stay in CST, or would that put the car in SSM? (car is not available from the factory with a supercharger).

Re: CST rules?
CST has nothing to do with the SCCA classes. It's a local class we invented. You do what the heck you like.

As long as the car can be smoged? Legally or not?

Re: CST rules?
~15 years ago the CSM/CST rules were - if you could drive from Cal speedway to the McDonald's on Foothill and Cherry without getting arrested, you're ok for the class.
I don't know who added the California registration eligibility thing since, but it totally doesn't fit the spirit of that class because that's where the illegal Euro and JDM imports were supposed to play
Karl's Euro spec Evo 7 in CSM ... those were the times ... and Bill Hogan's Civic with that doll in the trunk ...
