Back to the SSS perspective.
No course workers means ONE car on course at a time. No exceptions.
And again I point out, anytime your course is not fully staffed you need somebody who has access to a vehicle or scooter or something who can get a fire bottle out for an incident.
We can, and have done this, you just have to some keep the safety aspects in mind.

Once we have the group who want to do fun runs we can split them and have Neelu assign positions. Starter, Grid, Gate, and course positions would be a minimum, I think and if we have more than enough people then maybe add timing slips and announcer(someone to reset the timer if needed)?Neelu Yeoh wrote:Sounds good! I'll start a worker sheet.rmgibson wrote: It sounds like we need to start with a minimum of one person in the trailer who can act as a master radio/announcer to all those on course and in grid along with a starter who can work in conjunction with them to send cars. At minimum then we'd need about 6 workers which should be doable as long as a SSS is open to sticking around to supervise.
Neelu, maybe you could draft up a Fun Run specific worker sheet and we can have people volunteer for positions early in the day so we don't have to rush to find people just before starting. It would also have the benefit of pre-vetting volunteers to make sure they know what they're doing and are properly instructed for this different format.
I would caution doing it earlier in the day as people may or may not show and people can go where Neelu sends them barring any medical conditions.

I've done announcer AND starter before at the same time. Can be done either with wireless mic at the starting line or by telling the driver when to go over the PA from inside where you can set reset the clocks if needed.

I really don't think the cashless is any big deal. In the very rare situation where a person only has cash at the event and no card, I'm sure we can find somebody willing to take cash and whip out a card. Find me. I'll take your cash and use my wife's card. ;)

I just got bounced out of registering for the December event..... and now I am having to use my wife's card.Rick Brown wrote:It's not about whether you have a credit/debit card, it's whether you want to use it, for whatever reason. 17 people paid with cash today, with only about 100 entries, and all but one were points card holders.rmgibson wrote:I don't know anyone under the age of 16 who doesn't have a debit card Craig. I don't see how this would be an issue at all.
I prefer to pay by cash for solo events because every time I pay for a solo event online with my credit card my card number is canceled and the transaction is flagged as fraud. This is very annoying. The bank issues me a new card in about a week. Every time this happens and I have to change all my auto pay accounts and pay by cash to get gas. I stopped attending practice events because of the online payment requirement.

Thank you for bringing this to someone's attention. Was this current issue with the Sunday or Saturday event? I'll bring it to motorsportreg's attention and post their response here.Doug Teulie wrote:

I think it is my bank. My credit card account does not like any internet transactions. PayPal is the worst.Anthony Porta wrote:Thank you for bringing this to someone's attention.
