April 2018 Practice & Autocross

Post by Lauren Kane Porta »

Registration for the April 14 practice and April 15 autocross at El Toro is now open: https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/ap ... cca-477512

If you would like to be a chief, please post below.

Please note a new change for Sunday, which deals with choosing your work assignment. For the second event in a row, you will now be required to sign up for your Sunday work assignment during the online checkout process. You will be able to list your first and second choice. This does NOT GUARANTEE you will be assigned that position, but we try to be accommodating wherever possible. Please note that for specialty positions (such as computer, time recorder, master radio, starter, etc.) you must have prior experience with the SCCA to receive those. Also note that when multiple people sign up for the same position in the same worker group, the person who registered first will be given that position. So, register early to have a better chance of securing your preferred work assignment! We will be keeping track of who gets what position at each event, and will try to rotate through these positions, so if you get course one event and you signed up for something else, don't be discouraged.

Hey David,

I thought we'd go ahead and run them at a lunch break. If you guys want to run before (i.e. at 8:00-9) or after (i.e. maybe like 5:00 ish), I'm happy to work with the kart gang to accommodate that.

Re: April 2018 Sunday Run Order

Sunday Run/Work order. Only 3 groups this time due to low turnout. Maybe a couple of extra non-competitive runs each, rather than fun runs. Under discussion.

The current plan is to have 4 competition + 2 fun runs for all in their morning sessions (i.e. 6 runs per driver in their session, 4 count for competition, 2 are just for fun!). The regularly scheduled runs should be done by noon(ish). Karts are running at 8:30 before cars.....first car out should be at 9:00.

In order to do any fun run sessions in the afternoon, we'll need at least 22 people to commit (we need a minimum of 10 on course and 1 starter to do fun runs)....if we have a sizable crowd that's interested in afternoon fun runs (and also in helping pack up the RV), we'll go ahead and do them. With a few extra fun runs in the morning, we may not have sufficient interest in the afternoon for a session. But, we have quite a few first timers, so we may have some people having fun for the first time.....so....we'll leave the afternoon session up in the air and we'll take signups in the morning if there seems to be interest. Our SSS and I are willing to stay till whenever.

That's the plan for now!
