$50 sparkplugs

Post by Bob Beamesderfer »

That's what the M3 comes with. BMW says they provide information to engine computer about misfire and ill-formed combustion. So, $400 a set and these days modern plugs can last 100k miles. That's longer the lifespan of the average M3 given the number that die at the hands of owners bent on hooning them at every opportunity.

$400 in spark plugs?

More evidence that the Cummins Turbo Diesel is the superior engine.

Yep, the V-8. Which 0-60 magazine puts up against the RS4, IS F and C63. M3 still champ.

I didn't pick it up, but I saw a magazine headline story at 7-11 this weekend that screamed something like...

Really? Even with that weight? Guess a V-8 with 414HP makes a difference. As for $50 spark plugs, it'd better win with that price tag! Have only seen it once or twice on the street (both times parked). One in white, one in red.

Please, the Germans are so far behind the Japanese. They have had $50+ plugs for the rotary for years. And you can replace them every event, ask Jeff.

They considered handling, steering, the usual stuff. Any of those cars will get you close to 150 down the front of Big Willow. I got the IS F to 135 on my fourth ever lap there, so someone like Steve Abbot wouldn't have any difficulty clipping buck-fifty.

You can add electronics to that because BMWs (German cars in general) suck crap in that dept.

Champion makes the spart plugs for one of our forklifts. German Forklift with an English(Perkins) engine. At the dealer, they are $143 each. At the autoparts store(one that can actually get them) they are $50 each. Good news is, we wont have to pay that much for too much longer. Bad news, Champion discontinued that model and its replacement(a whopping $3 ea) will not actually fit in the engine. Kinda hard to fit a 7/8" OD plug into a 5/8" ID hole.

I never would have guessed it, but one article had the TT911 over 100# heavier than the M3.

The TT911 is AWD. A GT2 is faster in some respects.
