I'll be at Cal Speedway this weekend doing the Speed Ventures Autocross school. I can see when I'll be done on Sunday, but it is out of the way for me to drive from the Speedway to LA, and then back to the OC. I am possibly going to catch one of the Cubs games vs. the Dodgers the week of August 17th. PM your number to me, and I can call when my plans are firm.

It's a nice run from Acton to CA Spdwy down the 138 to the 15 to the Speedway

138 hwy = Pearblossom Hwy

I've taken the Elise from Acton to CA Spdwy via the 138 > 15

Mako, you're so subtle. Selling the Lotus will free up some needed cash flow.

Time to put a SCNAX Cup Team together ... of course only seriously interested potential buyers need apply.

Tadd,

You and Morgan obviously have excellent taste is cars! The S2K and Elise are amazing, however, starting off in either of these cars, especially not knowing how to drive a manual, will be a bit of a mountain to climb. How about considering an MX-5 for CS or STR. The car is very balanced, well mannered and easy to drive. I am sure Jeff Cawthorne, Leonard, and others can speak to ease and fun this car can offer (perhaps in another post).

I've never heard that a Lotus is a really hard to drive. More I've heard you need to drive it really hard! :)

Not a good car if she is going to crash it on the street. But make her an autocrosser and she'll be a lot safer driver.

The car is really not hard to drive. It's difficult for some to get used to the different feel of a mid -engine because they have only raced front engine cars. The car is so well set-up that it is really hard to spin it. The chassis is so responsive to change that you can move the front swaybar link one hole and dial in some understeer for a more secure feel

The Elise is very easy to drive at 9/10ths It is not an easy car to get 100% out of, but I think that's true for any mid or rear-engined car. With the possible exception of the Boxster...

If she wants an Elise, John's car would be an excellent choice. However, if you're worried it might be too much car, I'd look at a '99 Boxster for the new CS, or if money is no object, a Cayman S or an Evora.
