the computer only counts up to 9 cones...Palero was pretty upset that the level of cone counting was not matched with his cone-hitting...

Stupid question alert:
Should I number up on this event, since you didn't ask for a number at registration?

Note to School Students

Post by Steve Towers »

I believe Lisa is out of town/country on business, in her stead, as Chief of Instructors, I'm posting this reminder to the students as to what to bring on the 14th:

Water - enough to last all day (check weather forecast).
Chair - there may be down time or you may need to rest.
Head gear: You will in the sun all day. Protect yourself.
Shade - if you have pop-up (and tie downs) bring it. It may be windy. Plan for it.
Sunscreen - there is no shade at the venue
Food - Snacks (edit)
Helmet - must have. Some loaners are available (who knows where they've been!)
Appropriate clothing - it may be cool in the morning, warm afternoon- plan accordingly
Put at least 5 PSI above normal in your tires before entering the venue. Your instructor will help get it right. Bring a pressure gauge.
Check your fluid levels before the event. Check lugnut torque.
Make sure battery is secure. No loose objects in car. Camera mounts must be approved at tech.

BE ON TIME! BE PREPARED!

Bring a positive attitude. It WILL payoff. The goal is to have fun and be a better driver at the end of the day. If we all do it right, you'll get both.

Remember, this is a volunteer event. The instructors, and everyone involved, have given up their weekend to help enrich your autocross experience. Take advantage. Of course, a thank you is always appreciated.

I guarantee that when you leave this school you will be a better autocrosser than when you arrived. Money well spent.

Numbers for Solo School

Post by Lisa Severy »

If you have assigned CSCC Solo Membership numbers for your car and you are attending the school, please bring them/put them on your car. We will be using the timing system. For those that don't belong/have assigned numbers, we will issue numbers (600 series) at the event.

Don't forget that we are providing lunch! Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, Boca Burgers, chips, drinks. We will also have water, but always a good idea to bring your own.

Food for Nov. 14 School and Nov. 15 Practice

Post by Lisa Severy »

Just a reminder that lunch is included for students (included in your entry fee, instructors and "hired" help (Worker Chiefs and a few other volunteer workers w/whom I have made an agreement) on Saturday. Lunch is being provided by Pomona Formula Motorsports (Cal Poly Pomona). Lunch tickets will be handed to each student/instructor/worker at registration. Offerings include hambugers, cheesburgers, Boca Burgers, hot dogs, assorted chips and drinks. Food will be available for a donation for those who aren't getting a ticket. PFM will also be out on Sunday cooking for us. On Sunday, all participants may purchase food for a donation. All proceeds go to supporting the building/testing and driving of a formula car for international competition. I hope that you will support their efforts. Thank you.

If case you didn't see Lisa's post - the students cars must have numbers for the afternoon portion. Temporary numbers will be issued to those not having a permanent number.

Re: Confirmed Entrants for the Solo School

Post by Lisa Severy »

There are three more entrants as of November 12, and a couple of other changes -including an update on payment status (checks I received today -or not). I will be heading to Fontana Friday and staying out there the whole weekend - which means I will not be making any additional updates, picking up e-mail or Personal Messages. Today is the last day that I will be picking up the mail (fear not abandon mailboxes - as my husband will be picking up the mail and keeping it safe).

This list is now in alphabetical order. If I have not received your check -that is indicated by "bring check". Please bring a check for the amount. As far as I know, only one person says they sent a check that I have not yet received. I will shred the check if it arrives later. There are also a couple of people who had to cancel for Sunday and will be bringing new checks. You know who you are - so I did not feel the need to indicate that.

Dumb question: I have a Thule roof rack on the car, is it allowed to run with one or do I need to take it off for the weekend?

as long as it's attached well it can stay on. if it feels loose then it has to come off.

Lisa, I won't be able to make the Sunday practice....My car is in the shop (despite the shop assuring me that the would not screw up my weekend plans)....So I am renting a car for the school on Saturday, but will have to miss the practice. So you can give my spot away on Sunday...if that is possible.
