Seat with head protection work for Solo?

Post by Suren Yegiazaryan »

I'm in the market for a racing seat at the moment as I'm looking to add safety items to my car. I've come across a nicely priced used Sparco Circuit.

I'm not sure if I should jump on it because it seems like the head protective bolsters will actually be more of a problem for auto-x? Or will I be ok with this type of deal? Should I stick with a standard bucket seat? Any tips for a new guy would be great. TIA. I get the feeling I should just buy it, try it and if it doesn't work out just sell it and buy something else. If there are any bad experiences out there maybe I can save the trouble. If it were only a track car I wouldn't hesitate but I plan on doing full seasons of autocross too.

I drove a Seven recently with a similar seat. It made looking ahead somewhat difficult in really tight corners. On later runs I just left the shoulder straps loose so I could lean forward to see past the head restraints.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks, I'll skip it and go for a standard bucket.
