So who is going?

Stop by the ChaseCam booth. You might see some people you recognize.

We support our racers. :)

There are 3 normal ways to attend SEMA:
You can attend as an Attendee, an Exhibitor, or as Media.

For Attendee Registration, website states that
"Admission to the SEMA Show and AAPEX are for the automotive trade only."

Code: Select all

The following forms of business identification will be acceptable. All must indicate current employment at an automotive–related company:
• Tax registration certificate or business registration
• Business license
• Two recent paycheck stubs to verify employment
• Business card (company name and address must correspond with the information on the registration form). Must include job title
• Business photo I.D. (must include company name, photo and name)
Additionally,

Code: Select all

The following business categories are not allowed to register:

• Consumers
• Any nonautomotive affiliated company
• Attorneys
• Freight providers
• Travel agencies
• Graphics companies - nonautomotive
• Exhibition industry service companies
• Insurance agents
• Modeling agencies
• Printers/Packaging
If you do not meet the attendee criteria, you can buy a booth at $34.95/sq. ft. for Exhibitor privilege.

Code: Select all

A. Exhibitor Categories. To exhibit in the Show, Exhibitor must meet at least one
of the following criteria:
i. Manufacturers are those that have products to display which are manufactured,
packaged or marketed under Exhibitor’s proprietary trade style or brand name and
are automotive related. Companies that exhibit as a Manufacturer can only
display those products for which it is the manufacturer and exclusive rights holder
to distribute the product(s) in the United States, and must furthermore comply with
Section 7.E. below.
ii. A company that has an exclusive contract or agreement to sell a particular
proprietary brand of products in the United States shall be considered an Exclusive
Distributor. Exclusive Distributors must provide Show Management documentation
to substantiate compliance with these criteria. Exclusive Distributors must submit a
Letter of Appointment from the manufacturer on the manufacturer’s letterhead,
within fourteen days (14) of submission of the Exhibit Space Rental Agreement.
Exhibit Space Rental Agreements from Exclusive Distributors will not be
considered accepted unless and until a valid letter of appointment is received by
Show Management. Only those products, brands, trade names, logos or
intellectual property for which the Exclusive Distributor has the exclusive rights in
the United States may be displayed in the exhibit. Products, services or brands for
which an Exhibitor is a non-exclusive seller may not be displayed, referred to in
line cards, catalogs, signs, flyers or brochures, or depicted anywhere in the exhibit.
iii. Service Providers may exhibit given that the service is provided to, or for, the
automotive industry (Printers are not permitted as exhibitors). Notwithstanding the
foregoing, Show Management has the sole and exclusive right to accept certain
companies that may conflict with this provision if it finds such acceptance is in the
best interest of the Show.
iv. Warehouse distributors may exhibit its service as a warehouse distributor, but
Las Vegas Convention Center
Las Vegas, Nevada USA
Exhibit Days: November 2 - November 5, 2010
Education Days: November 1 - November 5, 2010
EXHIBITOR RULES AND REGULATIONS
may not exhibit its own proprietary product, under any conditions, in the same
exhibit space in which it is displaying its service as a warehouse distributor.
Products, services or brands for which a Warehouse Distributor is a non-exclusive
seller may not be displayed, referred to in line cards, catalogs, signs, flyers or
brochures, or depicted anywhere in the exhibit. These products can be referred to
in corporate capability brochures only.
To attend SEMA as Media, there is a qualification procedure which involves e-mailing SEMA and sending 2 examples from this list as proof:

Code: Select all

• Business Card (Showing company name, registrant's name and title)
• Copy of Publication Masthead, Credit Roll (Show registrant's name as editorial staff)
• Published Article/Photos (Copy of a published industry-related article/story written by, or photos with registrant's name, publication name and issue date)
• Published Article/Photos (Copy of a published industry-related article/story written by, or photos with registrant's name, publication name and issue date)
As a trade-only event, media credentials are reserved exclusively for working members of the media, including print, broadcast, radio or online. In order to maintain a B2B environment conducive for buyers and sellers to do business, media credentials are only available to media that are related to the automotive industry, or those that cover small businesses or another relevant topic.

Public relations and marketing personnel representing manufacturers do not qualify for media credentials. Video production companies that are representing exhibitors or those that are charging companies to be covered do not qualify for media credentials.

Approved individuals who abuse their media privileges or who misrepresent themselves in obtaining their media passes may risk having their credentials revoked, and their names banned from attending the SEMA Show in future years.

Individuals who have been approved for media credentials in the last four years can use their unique alumni number or email address to register and qualify for media credentials. There is no need to re-submit qualifying materials in this case.
New applicants will need to submit qualifying materials, such as business cards, bylined articles, video or radio clips, links to articles posted online, etc. (see below).
Lastly, there is Enthusiast Opinion Leader Program for folks savvy with social media.
The program is intended for automotive enthusiasts and opinion leaders who are active in car clubs, automotive websites/forums, and social media. Applicants and guests must be 16 years of age or older.
Opinion Leader Badges are only good for Friday.
Unfortunately, the Enthusiast Opinion Leader Program registration closed 2 weeks ago.

I'm SURE there are more ways to get in. Ask your industry friends =)

I'm going for the first time, and I can hardly wait! KJ, I could've got you in a couple weeks ago, but I'm not sure if I can now. PM me if you're serious about going and I'll call my friend to see if it's not too late.

Funny, at least I'm not specifically called out as not allowed (CPA).
Kurt - hadn't even thought about it until ten minutes ago. Gotta see my schedule, etc.

I wanted to go. We have 20 people from my site going(including all the engineering staff from my division) but they wouldn't get me a pass. I guess someone has to stay behind and do some work.

Eric, I sent you an email. Bill Schenker is now joining us at SEMA too.

In a perfect world, someone would drive Bill's tow van down to San Diego so we can load it up before mid day Saturday. That means I would not need to bring a trailer.

Yeah, whatever. And some of your "other" traditions can put one in jail. Big deal.
