I registered for the championship, but it didn't let me enter my current number (48). I changed numbers for this year, having had 422 last year. I used my old number to register, because it wouldn't let me enter without a number.

Don't know who I tell this tale of woe to, but someone with magical powers, can you change my entry number to:

Super Stock PAX
Car # 48

Thanks,

That's strange, because in the permanent number list, you are 48, not 422, so that should have been the choice in the drop down. Edited your entry to 48.

Not as strange as you might think. I had already changed his number to 48, just hadn't edited his entry yet.

Isn't that the same Run/work order as last time? I'm not complaining because I like running first group, but it should rotate. No?

The run groups have been rebalanced. We tried to keep the number of classes moving to a minimum.

Everyone!

Nope, it's a new, revised order by Christine. An attempt to balance them a little better. People were only moved around in either morning or afternoon, not across lunch.

Thanks Christine and Rick. It's probably not a bad thing to have some redundancy in organizing the events. Great job.

OK, Time for annoying Newbie questions. :|

I plan to attend this event & hope I'm not working so I can.
From what I was told a couple of weeks ago, there will be a practice on Sat & then the race on Sun?

What will this cost for Sat & or Sun?
& can I just show up earlier the day of either & pay & enter last minute?
Or must I pre-regitser?
I have only been to one race before & I remember I must also work the course ( & I'm fine with that & rather enjoyed it last time. )

I really need the practice day because I remember getting lost out there in the sea of cones last time.
Should I get black shoe polish or something so I can write my assigned number on the car ( White Car )

Last time I joined Team Blew & had magnetic door stickers made.. ( But that was 3 years ago. )
I also had Mako with me to hold my hand along the way because I was completely lost & to be honest I have a terrible memory & I doubt I'll remember much from 3 years ago.

Please post anything else you think I should know before showing up so I'm not turned away & not allowed to run.
I Have my helmet & IIRC thats all I need huh?

Thanks in advance, I'm so looking forward to this weekend!

Cam, stay home, you aren't allowed to play w/ us.

Ok, maybe you can; you have to wear another funny shirt, though. If you come out this weekend, though, you're going to be SOL, as our event is next weekend ;).

Saturday was pre-reg via motorsportsreg (there is a separate thread regarding this) - the list hasn't been posted yet, but it usually gets full quickly. You can try to register online still to get on the waitlist. Sunday, you can just show up, but you should prereg on the site via the link; costs are different for walkup vs prereg online (you can pay @ site, which I think is the only option you have this time around anyway).

If you have a points card # this year, you can use tape, print out numbers & tape the paper to the side of the car, or get vinyl/magnets made. If not, you will be assigned a 6xx number @ the event. We typically have the numbers printed out & you just get them taped to the side of the car.

On championship day (aside from your own course walk), there is also a novice course walk held by our Novice Coordinators in the morning and possibly at lunch. You can also ask for an instructor.

On practice day, even if you don't get in, you can get ride-alongs.

Other than that, just read the newbie stuff/stickies on the "New to Autocross" sub-forum.

FJ is always after lunch.........as long as no one protests the arrangement in the future.

Thanks for the info QV, I registered & hope to make it in there.
Seemed to me that's only registering for the practice day?
What about for race day? Is there a limit to how many they allow on raceday?
What will that cost & where do I sign up for that? ( looking for the link.... )

Race Day (Sunday) sign up is in this thread. Practice day sign up is in the other thread.

Both (and others) are listed under http://solo2.motorsportreg.com/ - which is the link if you go through the calendar on the main solo2.com site.

No, you will be in the computer as pre-registered. That gives you the discount.

Trying to pre-reg my son, it's stops me on the SCCA membership validation point. I had 'pending' in for the SCCA # before, but just changed it to his real number. His name is the same on the SCCA card as in Motorsports reg. Any ideas?

Okay, worked now. I think there was some sort of update/waiting period from when I changed his SCCA number to a real number in his profile.

photo spotter needed

I'm trying to bypass the usual rigmarole of running around frantically, trying to find a spotter 5 minutes before the course goes hot.

up until this point, I've mostly taken photos from the sideline, but this weekend, I would really like to get INSIDE the corners with a shorter lens so that I can get better action (so a good spotter is important), and picture of the drivers' faces - instead of often times, the driver looking away.

spotter needs to be willing to hike a bit, El Toro is pretty big, and the course can get kinda long depending on where we're going. Need to have some sort of footware that's not afraid of the grass/dirt area (snakes? though I have yet to encounter any - mostly just those prickly weeds).

Let me you know availability so that we can plan some overlap with other people. I'm used to standing out there all day, but I'm not expecting the spotter to do the same.. :) it'd be nice to get maximum coverage of drivers/cars instead of having to come in due to spotter shortage.

Am I gonna be the only one racing STS?
What fun is being the only one in a Class?

What might be a better class for me to join if nobody else is gonna run STS.
Of course I want a fair fit.
I dont have the skills yet, but a fair chance would be nice.
