Re: Bimmerfest 2011
probably where Tom goes to scout for even more BMWs to put in his garage
Re: Bimmerfest 2011
Where Bimmers rule. I've never been, but seen pictures and has some really cool cars.
There's also Toyotafest tomorrow. I'll most likely be going to this one.

Re: Bimmerfest 2011
It started back in 2001, where a service manager at Santa Barbara BMW would have an annual gathering for all BMW enthusiasts in April/May from the message boards/forums. People all up and down the west coast and even from other parts of the country and Canada would drive down and "meet" for free food/drink, raffles, prizes, etc.. the fun part was the drive to Santa Barbara, with the 1hr cruise around the canyons of SB at the end of the event. I did it in 2002-2004 when it was small and fun.Cam Correa wrote:What is that?
Now it got so big, they need the ROSE BOWL and moved it down to LA County and now charge for entry and food, and now the vendors got so big it's a little more commercialized.
But for BMW enthusiasts..........it is MECCA, it is Jerusalem, it is the Holy Land

I was at the Rose Bowl all day... And in Pasadena. Not at Bimmerfest, but you couldn't avoid being buzzed, cut-off, or generally annoyed by rude kiddies in Bimmers.
Glad its over.

True about the kiddies. Saw couple of them doing burnout on the grass??? Even a bicycle can do burnout on grass :unimpressed:Steve Ekstrand wrote:I was at the Rose Bowl all day... And in Pasadena. I keep asking myself where do the kids get the money for all the nice cars? Don't parents kick kids out of the house at 18 anymore?

I went to one back in 2007. While I enjoyed seeing the nicely done cars, I didn't enjoy some of the fanboys (probably those kids). I went there in my Audi (didn't have a BMW then) just because my work needed me and my coworkers there. While trying to get in the line of cars to get in, some dudes were yelling out things like "this ain't @#$%-ing Audifest". What the hell was that for?
Now that I have a BMW, I don't have any desire to go.

Re: Bimmerfest 2011
For years I helped organize one of the biggest Mopar shows in the country. Other than the traditional burnouts leaving the lot which might have been a little dangerous and over the top (but way cooler than anything these kiddies could do), I never saw this kind of behavior at our shows. And the Mopar guys did their burnouts on the asphalt not the lawn.

Re: Bimmerfest 2011
I was there, Toyo had a modest little booth.
My first time there and I gotta say, I've never seen so many Bimmers before. Our neighbors directly in front of our booth (Some performance chip maker) thought that by blasting fast tempo electronic music and constantly revving their engines the customers would be convinced their performance products worked. Next time I will have my booth cars do standing burnouts until the tires blow.
