that doesn't look terrible for a tire with a sidewall that tall. I don't think higher pressures would change the amount of flex on that tire.

Yah but it doesn't look like it would take much more to pop a bead ... dig in a rim, and ...

That is a hub cap mounted at the lugs. Those things are so flimsy.
It's hard to see the black steel rim at the bottom.
..and probably a tall 185-65-14.

Hub caps? May be we should have tech tell drivers to remove those. I can imaging one of those flying off and chasing down a corner worker }:) Hope Mako is there to capture the moment.Michael Smith wrote:That is a hub cap mounted at the lugs. Those things are so flimsy.

Re: Watch Those Tire Pressures !
Snap-on hubcaps are supposed to be removed and should be verified at tech. Hubcaps that are bolted on along with the lugnuts (like this one, if Michael is correct) are OK AFAIK.

Yes those are bolted on.
Re: Watch Those Tire Pressures !
I don't know...those look like snap-on caps with lug nut covers. I'm thinking I saw that car go thru TECH. I believe it was when that "other" new guy Davin was working TECH. Probably missed it while he was eating that Cal-Poly triple cheeseburger. }:)Davin Swanson wrote:Snap-on hubcaps are supposed to be removed and should be verified at tech. Those Honda Civic hubcaps are held on by the lugnuts.Michael Smith wrote:I don't know...those look like snap-on caps with lug nut covers. I'm thinking I saw that car go thru TECH. Re: Watch Those Tire Pressures !
Well, just to clarify, on Sunday I told the guys to stand back & let me be the guy that checks the wheels ( Dirty work in other words because I brought gloves this time for a change ) & I never saw any hub caps come through, But I was never told about either sort of hub cap & am glad its come up being I hope be a tech guy for years to come.

Re: Watch Those Tire Pressures !
I believe that was a ladies' school car, and being that I didn't work tech on saturday, I am free and clear nonetheless! Thankfully nobody's found anything that I let slip by accidentally on Sunday... Yet. Just don't look too closely at too many of Mako's pictures.
