race gas
Local distributer dropped their race gas.
I think I can get by on 100 unl pump gas. Anyone know of a station around Fontana, San Bernardino, Victorville?
I know of the distributer off Magnolia at Corona/Riverside, but they have limited hours. I need more like a 24/7 gas station.

Bill,
I've had some questionable experiences with pump race gas, so I just buy 5 gallon pails now.
What brand and fuel do you use?

Re: race gas
F&L is what a local tire shop carried for motorcycles. Don't remember the specifics, but I bought what I could get. 109 rings a bell and I cut it some. The mustang is NA about 13.5 compression.
I've also used VP 100 unl pump gas. But both went away.
I don't need anything soon, just figuring out how I'm going to handle it next year.

Re: race gas
Grassroots Magazine has had an ad running by a "race gas" company that sells cans that are to be added to UNLEADED for something like 100 octane. I think the cans are quart size, but I'm not sure. If you need the contact info, I can get it when I get home.Bill Martin wrote:F&L is what a local tire shop carried for motorcycles. Have you checked the pumps at the speedway?

Re: race gas
I used a product called Torco. It always worked for me. A lot more convenient.

Re: race gas
Torco ... yup
Use to play with Toluene ... google rocket fuel. There is a formula where one adds kerosene and miracle oil as cleaners and lube.
I wonder if F1 will go back to it next year with the turbo engines. It's what they used with the last generation of turbo F1 engines.
Inexpensive when one could find it at a paint store.
But I heard it's not good for rubber lines. So when I was upgrading my WRX fuel pump I was pull off a fuel line and it just broke off like I had used a very hot knife?! Stopped using it then.
There was a test in Turbo magazine years ago. When they tested 100 octane 76, they said it was simply 91 octane with toluene added to bring it up to 100

What about 100LL aviation fuel. There are a couple small airports in your area.

Re: race gas
The 76 station at the corner of Alabama and West Lugonia in Redlands has VP 100 at the pump. Starbucks on the return to the 10 west and you have a twofer.
Re: race gas
They are across from the garages, but I think they are only open if someone is using the track. And then not always. I have been there at Speed Ventures events & they were locked. Don't know the octane as I only use Kali 91.Bill Martin wrote:No. Where are they? You go thru the tunnel & turn right towards the garages etc. Once you are past the main gate I believe there is access anytime (but pumps may be locked)

Congrats on your RX national championship. Yeah, maybe when the timing works out I could pick up some gas that way.Jayson Woodruff wrote:I bet you can get Tim to bring it to Glen Helen for you.Anthony Porta wrote:Porterfield in Costa Mesa has racegas.

Update on the Speedway gas: Only open during events, only sold when manned, only sold to racers for use at the track and only pumped into cars (not cans). I don't know if they occasionally make exceptions but it doesn't look promising.

Yes on the speedway gas. I've seen SpeedVentures open it on the hour during their events. I think they're suppose to limit it to 'unlicenced' cars as well. California rules are really tightening up and screwing things up for vendors. Might be worth doing some group buy boot legging.

Re: race gas
Chaparral Motorsports in San Bernardino is where I get my race fuel.

They are a VP Dealer and sell it in 5 gallon pails.

Good tip, thanks. They carry VP 110 RF and several others. The 110 should do fine.

And down by El Toro, Mission Motorsports carries VP also - at lower prices than others for some reason. In fact, a lot of motorcycle/quad/watercraft dealers seem to carry it.Jim Cuba wrote:Chaparral Motorsports in San Bernardino is where I get my race fuel.

Re: race gas
Merit oil in Bloomington has Sunoco Standard (110) in bulk. It's a good bit cheaper if you can bring your own cans.

Re: race gas
Another good tip. They're quite a bit cheaper than Chaparral with own can. And close to the speedway. But limited hours, 8-2 sat, closed sun.
