That explains why the 30' high golfing statue next to the 405 has been dressed in a "Porsche Motorsports" racing suit and his club converted to a checkered flag. Makes sense now.

Maybe if I get some Porsche Boxster decals for my Miata they won't notice.

I've already talked to a Porsche employee about this, and they stated that they "intend to make it available to other groups." It is expected to be open by the end of 2014.

Over the weekend, I was also told that our local PCA folks are currently talking to the home office in Altanta to get details, so I expect we will hear something in the not too distant future.

other than some slight revisions to the track layout, same as a year ago on all fronts.

When I spoke to a gentleman at the LA Autoshow, he also indicated it would be available to outside groups to rent the facility... but only Porsche vehicles would be allowed on the track. He was very blase about what renting the facility meant... I took that to mean you could rent out banquet facilities, or have private functions on track... renting/purchasing use of their vehicles, instructors / programs etc, but probably only PCA, or other groups with Porsche vehicles could take their own vehicles unto the track.

It would be nice if it opens up to others such as us. The color coding on the map indicated the large section above the lake would be all paved. If they created a cut across from the parking lot adjacent across the track section to that lot... that would be a great site for our events.

I get to pass it everyday on the way to work. Be fun for people riding the Goodyear blimp out from across the street to look down. Wouldn't be surprised if another tire manufacture sponsors a big sign for the blimp to look down on.

So 2014 came and went...

I pictured "Late 2014" to mean Oct - Dec 2014, not 2015 , 2016, 2017.... at all???

Is this still happening? I see the Atlanta location (which was announced after LA) opens to the public tomorrow.

Building a project in California is a nightmare. I guarantee the holdup is with California's unbelievably burdensome bureaucracy. The average person hasn't a clue how bad it has become.

I assume this is similar the BMW's Performance Driving Center in South Carolina. Very cool place to pick up your new BMW if you can't make the trip to Germany. You get an abbreviated training session (in one of their cars of the same model you bought) on their track, plus a tour of the SUV factory across the street, which is an amazing place on it's own. Got to go with my son when he picked up his 2015 M3 last year. Was told they are building another Driving Center in Palm Springs soon. They offer various levels of performance driving schools to BMW owners plus the local BMW clubs get to use (rent?) the tracks: road course, skid pad (with water), dedicated autocross course, off road course.
Since light is faster than sound...many people look bright until they speak...

It's part of this with zero chance of that track being used for anything but very high paying events.
