Very nice Casey and really good tracking of cars. We had someone out at a rallycross doing something similar, but your tracking abilities are much better.
What altitude were you at on the large perspective video at the end that extended over to the kart track?

Look beyond the kart track. He was looking at the INSIDE of California Speedway.Ken Lord wrote:Very nice Casey and really good tracking of cars. We had someone out at a rallycross doing something similar, but your tracking abilities are much better.

Casey, I think I have an idea for eliminating the competition. Can you mount a mini Exocet or Hellfire missile on that drone?

I'm sure the stuff is out there to do it. I know some systems can return the copter to the launch point via GPS if the control signal is lost.Jason Isley BS RX8 wrote:I want to see you follow a car from start to finish. aka video game view.

Jason, with First Person View, it is possible. would be fun to try!
Rick, this one has that feature. get yourself in trouble or lost, it will return to home with the flip of a switch. really comes in handy.

I'm really intrigued by this and the possibilities. A Google search turns up several mini altimeters starting around $19, ranging from below sea level to 29,000 ft. +. I'm sure it's a matter of radio control transmitter/receiver range.Casey Brier wrote:Jason, with First Person View, it is possible. would be fun to try!

So, if you get it high enough to encompass the whole track, is it just a matter of zooming in while watching the video to get close-ups or is there more to it than that. Like for viewing closeness/distance from startegic cones, backsiding, etc.

Re: Auto cross video from above
Thanks for posting the video Casey, that is AWESOME!
Oh, 1 small comment: if you want to get rid of the rolling shutter you are getting (some notice it, some don't), change to 720p/60fps or 1080p/60fps if you have the newer GoPro. Helps a lot w/ the smoothness.

Re: Auto cross video from above
thank you very much for the tip. i will do that when attached to the copter. that rolling shutter bugs the bagebus out of me. that with the added Gimbal would make for a much nicer video!!!
