2014 Points Cards
It's that time again! Starting today I will accept points card renewals. If you purchase a new points card, it'll be good for the rest of 2013 and all of 2014. Such a deal!
Just a refresher on how this process works. Between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31 you can renew your number and secure it for the next year. To purchase a points card, go here: http://www.solo2.com/PurchasePC.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
On Jan. 1, your number is fair game and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The exception to this is the numbers in the protected range (1-199), which I will assign to people at my discretion based on a) how much you've competed in the last couple years, b) whether you are a competitor at national events where not having to have a new number made would be a benefit to you, and c) MOST IMPORTANTLY, how much you've assisted the region by contributing at events and generally being helpful. For instance, if you're the one helping clean up after the events, or you're the one volunteering to work the ProSolo challenges, or you're the first one to raise your hand when something is needed, your help will be rewarded. And vice versa.
Also please note that if you have a 1-199 number and haven't competed locally in the last three years, barring extenuating circumstances, your number will be made available. In other words, number squatting is no longer allowed.

Re: 2014 Points Cards
To be more specific, our region uses unique numbering, no duplicate numbers across classes. While most scoring systems see 05 and 5 as different numbers, people tend not to. To keep timing & scoring and radio communications simple we choose not to allow leading 0.George Schilling wrote:No. Five is already taken.Chris Hofmann wrote:Are numbers such as 05 acceptable for use in LA Region?

Hmmm... I'd swear I've seen a 01 run pretty consistently on a particular Vette over the years.Rick Brown wrote:To keep timing & scoring and radio communications simple we choose not to allow leading 0.

I know I'm a little late to the 2014 points card party...but: I registered for a points card and paid online over a week ago. I got a Paypal receipt, but that was about it. Am I in?...or too late?...or just confused?

Yup, check your email. Had a problem with my mail program randomly putting renewals in the junk folder for a few weeks. Issue's solved now and I got you today.KJ Christopher wrote:I'll go with answer A and C.Randy Gonzalez wrote:I know I'm a little late to the 2014 points card party...but: I registered for a points card and paid online over a week ago. Re: 2014 Points Cards
In the transition from the database to the Excel spreadsheet, I just discovered today that there was a large chunk of people who paid, but didn't make it into the exported spreadsheet I am now using to record points cards. I'm currently reviewing all the points cards to make sure everyone who paid is on the list. I'll send it to Will when I'm done for posting.
